  1. Review titled Nurse Assistant No empathy

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Witnessed Enough Failures - Posted on 02 May 2024

There are nurses here who suffer from chronic lack of professionalism and empathy. Visited A&E after my partner was brought in by ambulance through excellent care from paramedic who gave her morphine at home to reduce the pain. As expected it wore off after a while and her pain between her rib cage and lungs came back rapidly. I asked a nurse, the first one did not request the doctor to prescribe morphine. As usual, with nurses here you have to ask twice otherwise it will cost you, one day! I did ask a different nurse and turns out the first nurse did not request it. It got worse because when I asked at another time a nurse assistant, the one in brown clothes - she was set engrossed in a conversation. Despite politely asking her she responded moodily asking me to wait and responding with the most foul looking face and mouth! I only told her straight that is un expected behaviour and rude. She just went about other patients, but not addressing the patient with dignity who is in pain. Well it happens I am a professional in customer services and work in a capacity that covers NHS. I know some are frustrated , but to equally bring her own life issues to work is disdain and dissapointing to other NHS professionals who do their job with pride ! Moral of the story , ask staff twice to confirm actions or requests are carried out. And importantly correct and call out any poor behaviour. It helps other patients get better treatment too.

  4. Review titled Terrible if you need urgent treatment

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Des - Posted on 02 May 2024

Terrible treatment recieved by Sunderland Royal hospital today. I needed urgent help. I went to the A&E due to severe arm pain on the verge of passing out. I had jaw pain and pins and needles in the other arm. I was transferred to urgent medical care where I waited 3 hrs and when finally seen, was seen by a nurse who didn't examine me, didn't take blood pressure. Gave me a prescription for codeine and said I would have to see a gp. When I complained that my pain was severe and I wouldn't be able to get home she reluctantly gave me two codeine tablets. When I complained that I wasn't happy with my treatment. She got a colleague to support her and he told me A&E wouldn't help me and I would be discharge if I went back in. When I left the A&E, I almost passed out with pain and barely got home on the bus. I am utterly disgusted with my treatment from the nhs, I wasn't even examined.I still have severe arm pain and the codeine is having no effect. Disgusting service and I expect better

  5. Review titled Urology

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Steven - Posted on 08 April 2024

Always had good service here until today I can’t mention the dr as the review won’t be published otherwise, very rude dr did not listen at all. Thinks he knows everything as he’s done his studies maybe needs to work alongside the senior drs that are at the urology much more care and attention with them. seems like he was straight out of medical school did not make any sense, kept diverting away from question on hand, gave me 5 mins of his time then said he needs to get on with his clinic, when I was still asking questions that worried me, Not good from patient point of view, waited months for the appointment as well, to be discharged and fobbed off that it’s back pain affecting the area. Additional Training required, and a people skills course would be recommended

  9. Review titled Very Impressed

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Daren Borthwick - Posted on 28 February 2024

I recently have just had a full knee replacement, Firstly the anaesthesiologist team were very professional , i had a laugh and a joke with them but all the time they were informative and friendly. After the surgery i went on the ward .I was on d48 and all the staff were friendly and again informative. Some of the staff liked a joke with me as i do all the time . Food was sometime very delicious and at worst nice. All in all i was impressed with the staff and obviously all were very professional Thanks for making my very painful stay a positive one Regards Daren Borthwick
