  1. Review titled Wonderful staff

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Sarah Dawes - Posted on 22 January 2023

What can I say? I went in for surgery 2 days ago and the staff - from the doctors, nurses to the HCAs and everyone else were absolutely amazing with me. I suffer from severe anxiety and so I was very anxious about the whole process of going under GA and the operation itself but the staff reassured me, comforted me, distracted me and dealt with me with such compassion. A special mention must go to my anaethetist on the day who was exceptionally kind and compassionate and listened to my concerns about anaesthetic and acted accordingly. My surgeon also kept me up to date with everything and made sure I was completely aware of the risks and benefits of the procedure. The nurses and HCAs on the Day care ward and in theatre are incredible. I would go as far as to say they are angels. Every single one of them! They made my experience much more tolerable and didn't judge me for having mental health issues. I can't thank them all enough. They are so overworked and underpaid. These people need a massive pay rise. They deserve the world and more. Thank you so much St Mary's Isle of Wight!!!! Xxxxx

  2. Review titled Quick , efficient and quality care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

A big thank you to all involved for a very speedy and efficient well communication service since my GP made it a priority. Referral to you. The administration team and the two consultants who I saw all contributed to making an unpleasant situation much more bearable.

Driven almost insane by a continual pain (24/7) in my arm, I was lucky enough to be referred to the Pain Clinic for treatment. From initial appointment and throughout treatment I was treated with kindness and care. Not only was I listened to but I was heard and that made a huge difference to my recovery. This team deserve more recognition than they get and I hope others feel the same. Long may their good work continue.

  4. Review titled A good experience

I had elective knee replacement surgery. The preparation was through. Get your strentghning exercises in if you are able. I recommend attending Hip and Knee School to improve your understanding and hone your response. The surgery was successful thanks to the theatre team and the surgeon. The pain management was excellent. If you tell the caring knowledgeable nursing staff how you feel they will help you. (remember they are not mind readers). Listen to the charming amusing physios they are brilliant and want the best outcome possible for you. if you put in the work. The house keeping staff were in good humour and very helpful. You probably won't sleep the first night but when they offer you laxatives take them. Thank you very much Alverstone ward.

  5. Review titled Terrific Team

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Helen Plant - Posted on 16 August 2022

Having several ongoing conditions, I have always been happy to brag "but my heart is tip top", so was devastated when its beat became irregular and I was referred to Cardiology. However, from the moment I initially reported to reception through to the eventual cardioversion, I have nothing but praise and admiration for the whole team. The procedure was of course unnerving but the whole team were superb, kept me calm and relaxed: shared jokes and anecdotes, respected my privacy and allowed my as much modesty as possible. I cannot praise them highly enough. Suffice to say, if perchance the corrected heart beat slips back into AF, I will have no concerns at all if I have to return for a second Cardioversion procedure. Many thanks to all
