Fantastic and swift care today from all the staff. Every single member of staff did a brilliant job of keeping her pain free and helping to get it sorted. We were really impressed with how quickly we were seen and the treatment she received. Thank you for everything you guys do and for service with a smile. Thank you

I found the triage nurse extremely rude, obviously didn’t want to be there and was completely uncaring towards my daughter.

  4. Review titled Incredible staff and care.

Rated 5 stars out of 5

On what should have been our first day of holiday, I started having tingling and pain in my arm. Long story short, my doctor at home advised an Electrocardiogram just to rule out heart issues. I was actually almost distraught when I called St Austell Community Hospital as we had been fobbed off by around eight Doctors/call-in centres, who didn't actually listen to the details of the scenario and kept referring me to Accident and Emergency (against the specific instructions of the GP). One particular member of staff at St Austell was like a shining light on an otherwise dismal day, with the help, compassion and sincerity they offered, even offering to help personally with our young children. I simply cannot thank them, and the rest of the staff enough. When people say about angels in the NHS, this is exactly who they mean. Thank you again.

  5. Review titled Arrogant receptionist

Rated 2 stars out of 5

Brought my girlfriend into get checked out as was currently in a seizure for 2 hours. Went to reception as hoping I could get pointed either in the right way to speak to someone or get some help from the reception team however she was very abrupt and rude, she said to me that I needed to call 111 even tho I had been told not to phone 111 as they couldn't do anything with seizures so I explained this to her in a appropriate manner and she rudely responded to me and told me to go to A&E even though I didn't know where to go as not been in the hospital before so didn't know where it was. Would of rung for an ambulance however she was already In the car and was also in the area so went staright to there for help and received nothing just greif and stress. I ended up driving away and luckily my girlfriend came out of 10 minutes later however was going to either go to another hospital or call for an ambulance in a safe place.

We are very sorry to hear that the response you received at St Austell Community hospital was unsatisfactory, especially with the nature of the situation you were in. This is not what we would expect from any members of staff and the service we give to patients. This feedback will be sent to the Matron and Team lead to take action, learn from it and supply a further response. Again, we are sorry to hear that we did not meet your expectations.

  6. Review titled Unfriendly and hostile reception staff

Rated 2 stars out of 5

I was already feeling anxious for an X-ray appointment after suffering for a long period with hip pain which reluctantly lead to an X-ray appointment. When I arrived for my appointment I was greeted by 2 very unhelpful Reception staff. When I asked for directions on where the X-ray department was I was greeted with a very unfriendly gesture of its over there! It was chaotic and the hand made directions were very unclear, Eventually I found X-ray but May I add it left me very upset and distraught. Thankfully the X-ray staff were very nice. Please sort out your Reception staff there - They are very unhelpful and do not represent a small community hospital well.

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I had to take my son to minor injuries after he split his chin open at nursery. I brought him in expecting a very long wait with him. We were seen by 2 lovely ladies, one for assessment and the other to be dealt with and they were both so lovely and kind to my son. What could of been a stressful situation for him, turned out to be totally calm. We had no tears whilst being seen and we were in an out within 30 minutes. Thank you so much St Austell MIU.

  9. Review titled MIU are amazing!!

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Shellie forster - Posted on 12 April 2022

Contacted NHS111 and they directed me to St Austell Minor Injury Unit and said they would be expecting me. On arrival I was promptly triaged by a friendly, humorous and welcoming gentleman, offered the closest seat to save my hobbling back to the car to wait. Within a few minutes I was called by a lovely lady, who was very accepting of my 4 year old in tow, due to school holidays and made her at ease, they also gave her a choice of Teddy and a sticker! I was made to feel at ease, relaxed and promptly diagnosed. Further consultation by another colleague with humour and warmth was just the tonic. I was referred to MSK physio for my injury, given lots of info sheets, crutches, and verbal instructions as to what I should do. All these people were amazing and an asset to any service. I returned to my car within the HOUR! Anyone who says the NHS is broken should see this kind of service in action. Seamless. Informative. Accurate. I am truly grateful to you all. From a very satisfied NHS service user. ❤
