  2. Review titled Left my wife uncomfortable and in pain for 12 hours

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Lee Wright - Posted on 09 May 2024

Invited us in for induction got in for for 10 am nearly been 12 hours of sitting in a labour ward with back pain no pain relief literally no updates as to what is happening. She has twins in her stomach already had two kidney infections been admitted twice into hospital none of this seems to matter. Feel extremely neglected, she could of been in the comfort of our own home rather than suffering like this we keep getting told soon absolute shambles

  3. Review titled Emergency Department amazing

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Lisa - Posted on 13 May 2024

Saturday afternoon had an emergency with Dad and the paramedics that attended arrived quickly and were brilliant with him, they were so calm and made everyone feel so reassuring but with Dad they were amazing and they looked after him so well and got him to emergency fast. The a and e was jammed packed with ambulances and people but they rushed him into an area in Resus and Trauma. The 2 doctors dealing with him were brilliant and the more senior one took us to a relatives room and he explained everything, he told no lies and laid the worst case scenario out. Everything they did they talked us through and when they'd made Dad more comfortable we went back and sat with him. The young nurse was caring and helpful, went and got us chairs and made sure we were comfortable. They kept checking on him. They called a surgeon in and we were awaiting for him to arrive, in the meantime the anesthetist came in and spoke to Dad and us being reassuring and explaining everything. He was really nice and the 2 paramedics had come back in and checked on him whilst bringing another call in, they again were amazing. Then this Doctor came in and considering he'd been called in, he was brilliant. He was so caring and explained everything he was going to do, and made Dad feel at ease because he was worrying, in fact we all were. They took our mobile numbers and we waited in the hospital while he went to theatre and they said they would call us when they had news and they did. They did everything they said they would do and let us see him after the surgery which was early hours of the morning, nothing was too much trouble for them and they had so much care. Everyone who was involved in dealing with my Dad were amazing and thank you.

  4. Review titled Good Hospital

Rated 5 stars out of 5

My Mother in law has been an in patient at QA hospital Portsmouth 4 times since Christmas. Her care at all times has been very good and the staff have been exceptional in looking after the patients. I would like to mention in particular G5 the high dependency respiratory ward. The doctors, nurses and COPD specialists take great care with their patients. My mother in law had many tests and a scan to find out the cause of her problems. At each stage the doctors made sure we knew everything about the tests and scan. They take time to make sure the patient or their relatives are kept well informed of their condition and progress. You feel very encouraged by the nursing given at a difficult time for everyone. Lovely people.

My Mother was a patient on g2 ward and received excellent care throughout her stay there. The ward was well led, the nursing staff really kind, compassionate, caring, always smiling and would do everything they could to help. The medical team gave excellent care and treatment. Thank you to all the team on g2 ward for all you do

  6. Review titled Scanning department really kind and patient

Rated 5 stars out of 5

Had to have an MRI and was very nervous having had a bad experience (at another hospital). Staff were very understanding and did everything they could to reassure me. The equipment was also more modern and much better for claustrophobics such as myself. Very grateful for the patience and kindness showed towards me. Thereafter had to have an ultrasound and biopsy. Again, I was extremely nervous but staff were very kind and understanding. I just wanted to say a big thank you, it's very much appreciated.

  8. Review titled Horrible, toxic work ethic. Untruths abound!

Rated 1 star out of 5

by David - Posted on 03 May 2024

I was Referred to Queen Alexandra for urgent, time critical nerve repair surgery. The 1st appointment offered was with a breast surgeon (!)’and was I informed that the registrar who had limited experience with this procedure would be performing my hand surgery! I questioned the wisdom of this rationale and was duly offered surgery with a specialist hand surgery consultant a week later. The original referring doctor was very clear in explaining that there is only a very limited window of opportunity for surgery to have any chance of a successful outcome - typically 2 weeks. The surgery offered was ten days since the injury so I was hopeful that a positive result might be achieved. I arrived at the hospital one full hour before my surgery appointment, was weighed, measured etc and told to put on a hospital gown whereupon I was directed to a waiting area. I waited patiently for over 7 hours until the waiting area closed and I was then taken to another waiting area. Finally, when I asked what was going on, I was told the registrar was on his way down to see me. At no time did I meet or speak with the surgeon, which is most unusual and most regrettable. The registrar finally showed up and with a smirk, told me they had run out of time! Trying to contact anybody to get a replacement surgery date was a frustrating excercise in total futility. Nobody, and I do mean nobody answers their phones! Promised call-backs never happen. In sheer desperation I contacted another renowned hospital and it was like a breath of fresh air. Phones answered promptly. They understood the time critical nature of what was needed, and everything was scheduled in sorted in short order. I could never recommend any procedure at this hospital. There is a shameful and toxic work ethic, (or lack of ethic), with a careless and cavalier attitude amongst almost all of those people I interacted with. If you want to feel you are in good hands, I’d advise for sanity’s sake, to go absolutely anywhere else and avoid this shambolic heartless, paradigm of appalling professional standards like the plague!

I attended the Urology dept. on 27/03/24 for a minor operation, under local anaesthetic, all of the staff that I met were excellent and put me at my ease, the Consultant and her operating staff were great at their parts in my operation. I was given all the information about my operation before during and after! All the other staff I encountered were also excellent! A big thanks to all the staff! I could not have asked for better treatment.
