  1. Review titled Fantastic Hospital Experience

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Nickie Dalton - Posted on 08 January 2024

I normally find going to hospital quite a scary and overwhelming experience but arriving today and being welcomed by a "Homerton Helper" set my mind at complete ease and made it an entirely different experience for me by welcoming me with the biggest smile, taking my details and letting me know exactly when and where I'd be seen and just checking in that I was ok after my blood test! I am in awe at the concept and I think it's a fantastic idea. Kudos to both Homerton Hospital for doing this as well as anyone who volunteers to be a Homerton Helper. A fantastic initiative!

  3. Review titled Caring Staff- Amazing Experience

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I was really anxious about my Endoscopy procedure at the day stay unit, and although the procedure was uncomfortable, I am so grateful for every single member of staff that saw to me, from the nurse who took me into my bed and handed me the clothes to change into, to the nurse who administered the medication , to the nurses who took me into the procedure room to the doctor who did the procedure. to the nurse who sat me down and handed me over my report. Thank you all, I am so grateful. This has to be my best experience /atmosphere I have had in a hospital. Words cannot express. I really want the team to know how grateful i am. Thank you so much .

  4. Review titled 9 months wait, and appointments are still getting cancelled

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 19 December 2023

I have been waiting for a hysterescopy appointment since last summer. GP first gave me a gynecology appointment, which I waited for until March 2023. Doctors then confirmed I needed a hysterescopy. Then the second wait began. Homerton Hospital Women's Health Centre, began arranging appointments, then cancelling them for 9 months. Since October I received 5 letters, cancelling and arranging a new appointment for me. Once the letters stopped coming, I figured the appointment must be now confirmed. Me and my partner took time off from work to come to the appointment, only to find out by the receptionist that my appointment was cancelled. This time they didn't bother to let me know. What are we paying these high taxes for, if we're not to receive any public services? Shame on you.

  5. Review titled I'm just in shock

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anna Petrova - Posted on 29 December 2023

In early November, I became very ill due to a stone in my kidney and an inflammatory process that caused me to lose consciousness. On 7 November, I was fitted with a special tube through which the stone was supposed to come out and I was released home. To put it mildly, the sensations of wearing the tube are just terrible. It is difficult to pee and walk. On 28 November, I had an appointment to see if the stone had come out. And indeed, the stone came out. Now I had to remove the tube. They said they would remove it within four weeks. I received a letter saying that they would remove it on 12 February 2024. But the most interesting thing is that in a few days I received a new letter for an appointment on 3 June. Are you in your right mind to walk around for 5 months and cry in pain because of this tube? I will file an application with the relevant authorities if I do not have it removed soon.

  6. Review titled Lovely nurses

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Gemma - Posted on 29 November 2023

The nurse who looked after me after my surgery was kind, attentive and patient. She listened to me and attended to my needs quickly and effectively. Thank you. The nurse before my surgery was also kind, gracious and attentive. Thank you. The surgeon didn’t say a word to me and I witnessed him being very rude to one of the nurses. Overall my experience was very positive due to the level of care provided by the nurses.

  7. Review titled Rheumatology: Great service.

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Paula Hughes - Posted on 24 November 2023

I arrived before reception opened & was able to check-in via the self service computers, it was a very simple service & if you have your appointment letter, you can use the bar code on that to speed it up. The staff were fantastic & I was called on time. The consultant took plenty of time to listen to me & clearly explain everything about my treatment. I needed an x-ray before I could leave & again, I received fantastic service. I have anxiety & was struggling with my time there but all the staff treated me calmly, politely & with great care. Thank you all.

  8. Review titled Great post hospital support

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I fell and broke my hip on 13 Oct and spent 11 days in the Homerton. I am very impressed by the great support and professionalism of your team of OTs, physios, district nurses and carers planning my discharge with me and delivering a really excellent service to enable me to return home, where I live on my own. Well done to the great, coordinated partnership of Homerton hospital and Hackney Council. Thank you all.

  10. Review titled Poor treatment in A&E

    by Advo5 - Posted on 31 August 2023

I was seen by a doctor from Majors in the Minors department for some wounds that needed cleaning and dressed. From the very start it was awkward. However, this was the least of my worries. After sitting down I was asked if anyone has told me I need to stop (self-inflicted wounds). I tried to respond as best I could, given this is something ongoing for almost two decades. I was also asked as to why I continue to turn up like this. At another point I was asked don't you think you need to stop doing this. I was angry at the tone and of what was being said. In my view, there was no place for the Doctor to be giving a lecture when they know nothing about me or my life. There was also an issue of cleaning and dressing the wound. I could tell they weren't sure what to use. It seemed they got the instruments confused. Then at the end asked me if this was how staff normally dress the wounds. I was honest and said no. They were also not trusting of my stating I had seen the HPM team and was free to go. I was told there is no documentation to say I had seen the HPM team. I told them to knock on the door and ask if they wanted to. After leaving the cubicle I spoke with the HPM staff member I had talked to earlier and provided all of the above information. I feel there is an ongoing issue with how people are being treated when attending A&E when it comes to mental health/illness and that comes with it. Just before this attendance I had another staff member bring up frequent attenders - it has a new name ... High Intensity. After being asked if I wanted to see HPM and it being my last chance for them to refer. I was told, it's a yes or no, that's not hard at all. Apologies if it seems that I am playing around or purposely being unsure. Once again there is judgement based on nothing. Sadly, the ongoing issue with how I, and I assume others, are treated doesn't only come from physical, but also HPM staff. It's sad that it is now uncertain of how one will be treated.
