  1. Review titled The care for my dad has been amazing

by Trfc - Posted on 13 September 2023

My dad attended A&E in September after having a fall at home. We spent 10 hours there, then he was adult acute medical unit, then on the Sunday he was moved to ward 23. Even though this has been very stressful the standard of care my dad has received from all departments has been absolutely amazing. The care, kindness and professionalism from all staff we have seen made this a much less stressful situation. I can’t thank all of the staff enough for my dads care and putting my mind at ease that he was in the best possible place. Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart.

  2. Review titled No appointments

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 20 December 2023

Was referred to this service by my GP after experiencing worrying symptoms for many months. Received a choose and book letter to go online and book my appointment, but when I entered the details no appointments were available to book. Called the department, who told me there is a 12 month wait for routine referrals and this was why there are no appointments that are available to book. Luckily I have since been seen by another Trust who are working weekend and evenings to keep their backlog of patients more manageable.

  5. Review titled Messed up appointments

    by phoenix67 - Posted on 01 August 2023

I booked a referral for an audiology appointment at Arrowe Park. But it was for a date I couldn't make, so I was advised to phone the booking office for another appointment, only to be told I was double booked and that one was cancelled and to be told another one would come in the post. Ok fair enough, a week later the appointment still hadn't come through and I phoned the audiology department. I was on hold for 20 minutes the first time, only to be transferred the first time and then cut off halfway through the conversation. I then ring again, only to be on hold for another 20 minutes. I ring back not 5 minutes later only to be told that there is no appointment come through and I can't be seen by the audiology department even though I said that I cannot hear because both of my hearing aids need repairing as the moulds have split and they irritate my ears. I was told that I couldn't be seen by them as they aren't under their care. And that I need to be seen by Specsavers or Scrivens when they couldn't help me last time and I had to be referred back to the audiology department in 2021 when a similar situation happened. But I was eventually seen by the audiology department and they repaired my hearing aids. What I don't get is why I have to be referred every time and why can't I be a permanent patient at the audiology department. I'm not going to suddenly hear again. But this time they keep messing me about, I'm going back and forth to the doctors and hospital and they are both telling me different things. They need to be better at communicating

  6. Review titled Cardiology - excellent care.

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Paul Evans - Posted on 20 July 2023

I was recently admitted to the cardiac care unit with a reoccurrence of some heart issues and wanted to offer feedback and to thank all of the staff involved in my care. I was seen in the Urgent Treatment Centre on 16/07/23 after seeking advice from 111 and was then transferred to accident and emergency. Subsequently, a bed was found for me in cardiac care. I was treated and stabilised and then had a trans-oesophageal echocardiogram and cardioversion on 19/07/23, leading to being discharged the same day. Every single member of staff involved in my care journey was wonderful, caring and polite. I can’t thank them enough and would be grateful if this feedback could be passed on as to how well I was looked after.

  7. Review titled Excellent care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Daphne Jean Coan - Posted on 17 July 2023

My brother was first admitted to ward 17, then to HDU after his operation. His care on HDU was exemplary, the nurses kindly explained his treatment and what the tubes & machines were for in a friendly, professional manner putting the patient & visitors at ease. It can be daunting to see so much machinery and hear all the different beeps. He was later moved to ward 18. Care on all wards was excellent and all staff very helpful. I appreciate everything you all did to make his hospital stay as successful and comfortable as possible. You are all amazing: thank you so much.

  8. Review titled Marvellous treatment

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Roy Francis - Posted on 06 July 2023

I recently had an appointment in Endoscopy for a Bronchoscopy which I was very apprehensive about. I would like to thank all the staff for the marvellous treatment I received, they were very friendly, caring and reassuring and told me exactly what would happen during the procedure, I even managed to have a laugh! This department is very well organised and my procedure was incredibly skilled and didn't take long, so there was no need for me to worry and I enjoyed the coffee and biscuits ! So thank you again.

  9. Review titled Delays in maternity care

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 21 June 2023

We have been waiting in the maternity ward for 4 days for labour to be induced after being told that due to various health complaints the baby must be born at 39 weeks and no later. Apparently there is a staff shortage so induction cannot currently happen. There are obviously many things wrong with the management of the nhs, all of the staff we have met however have been very caring and understanding.

  10. Review titled Lack of care and responsiveness to patient needs

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 01 May 2023

Issues with this hospital are well known within local professions and the public. My wifes extreme pain, and screaming was only responded to when the sister on the ambulance bays walked on unit. Nurse who was meant to be managing her pain had gone on break, and other staff couldnt hear screaming from room 1 right beside nursing area, where they were congragated. Ambulance driver made unhappiness about admitting my wife as her shift was almost over, not the first time I have seen this being expressed in front of a patient, not a clinical symptom as far as I am aware. A poor service with a few caring staff who understand dignity and respect unable to counterbalance the poor attitude of many of their colleagues. I am very grateful to the Ward sister and doctors and a number of the juniour staff, but this place needs inspected at night by the CQC as overall it is a shambles with a lack of care, responsiveness, leadership evident throughout. In the meantime the local area continues to have a poorly run hospital service, a fact that is known by the CQC, Wirral Social services, Arrowepark Hospital and anyone who works in the care sector and the local community.
