    I called after badly turning my ankle and in the light of having been reprimanded by the doctor for not attending immediately for a similar injury a few years ago. Was told I would have to go to a hospital and could not have any form of consultation. Primary practice this is not.

    40 minutes to get the call answered , unable to book at nurse appointment 6 working days in advance . Practice manager again unable (let's face it, unwilling) to take my call. Still awaiting his call back from the last request to speak so not holding out hope for this time either!

    1 hour 30 minutes on the phone hold to be told zero appointments available for the gp, zero appointments available for the nurse , and the practice manager unavailable to take my call. when I questioned how this is acceptable (the call wait time or the unavailability of any type of appointment) I was told the receptionist would now be terminating the call.

    So they don’t like you ringing and if you do I suggest you go to the toilet first grab a coffee and make yourself comfortable probably for about 30 minutes. They definitely don’t want to see you ! If they can’t deflect you to the emergency department at the hospital or by telling you to ring 111 you’re left with E Consult. Which only works during surgery hours ! Why ? And at mid morning today the message coming up was “this service is unavailable”. Words fail me.

    Awful treatment from the Melford surgery today 10/10/23, having suffered with a uti over the weekend I did an econsult on 9/10 as still having symptoms was issued more antibiotics that unfortunately do not work for me so called and spoke to a helpful receptionist who was going to ask the dr to change the prescription. Called twice again today on the second call was told by the receptionist the dr would not change the prescription and that I would have to wait until urine sample results were back, Even though my symptoms had gotten worse. Spoke with 111 and they said with the symptoms I have the uti had gone to a kidney infection and I indeed needed different stronger antibiotics. Disgusting treatment from the dr especially when it’s on my record that I suffer from uti’s and as requested by Nephrology at west Suffolk hospital I am on medication for them!

    I attended the practice as I am experiencing problems with a surgically repaired shoulder. I received an outstanding service from the doctor who recently joined the practice from Ipswich (who I understand I am not permitted to name in this review). My new doctor was incredibly helpful, professional and experienced and was able to arrange a priority x ray and forward referral care plan. The doctor even phoned me the next day to see how I was and to discuss my x rays. I really couldn't be happier with the care I've received. Thank you.

    : I am due a diabetic review annually but haven’t had one for 3 years. I am also supposed to have an annual review following a stroke but again haven’t had one for 3 years. I had a blood test this month and a review of diabetes was scheduled with a nurse. This was cancelled the day before it was due as the nurse tested positive for COVID. I tried to book a telephone consultation review but none available. I used econsult. The reason I wanted to discuss my diabetes was that I believed that I was no longer diabetic given the blood test result. I received a reply as follows “ Thank you for your recent eConsult request. According to the notes you are diabetics, diet controlled. I called the surgery and the receptionist I spoke to said she would get another GP to call me that afternoon. 15 minutes later I received a call from a very annoyed GP that had responded to my eConsult. Most unhelpful!

    Telephoned a few days ago requesting blood tests which are meant to be every 6 months, nothing in my records saying this and each time I have to request. Left a list of required tests. I received a text message saying forms were ready for collection. Went to collect forms and a number of tests not included. Explained to the receptionist they should be a repeat of 6 months ago, she kindly entered all the details. I asked if forms could be posted, they no longer do this but I can collect from Lavenham. Total cost in petrol around £3, I live on a small pension, and having to drive adding to global warming, traffic congestion etc, all for the sake of a lack of accuracy at the Practice and the cost of a second class stamp. I would have left a postage stamp for the forms to be sent had I had one with me. Generally I am happy with the care provided by this Practice.

    Thank you for taking the time to feedback your recent experience when requesting Blood Tests. I am sorry to learn that the process did not flow as smoothly as we would have hoped. We would like to be in a position where the technology available would enable us to send you your blood test forms electronically. Unfortunately at this moment in time locally such provision is not available. However please be assured that we will forward your comments to our local Suffolk and North East Essex Integrated Care Board for their further consideration. In the meantime I hope we have reassured you that we have your correct blood test requirements listed.     Having recently moved from abroad to Lavenham, I phoned on Tuesday to make an appointment to see a doctor. On Wednesday a doctor phoned me and after a brief conversation he offered me an appointment the following morning. I was seen within 30 minutes of my alloted time and was given a very precise diagnosis of my problem. I would recommend this practice to anyone. Full marks and thank you.

  10. Review titled Another Frustration

    Prompted to leave this review after reading 11 August contribution below. My experience is the same. Six monthly blood tests always have to be at my instigation and on at least two occasions tests were omitted from forms so necessitating repeat journeys to surgery because they will not post them. Their recall system needs a drastic overhaul.
