  1. Review titled Type 2 Dabetes

Rated 4 stars out of 5

    by R C - Posted on 22 March 2024

As a newly diagnosed type 2 diabetic I was provided with some very crucial information to assist me in the management of my new medical condition. Appointments for further blood tests and eye test were promptly organised. A meeting with the diabetic nurse was arranged as was enlisting my name for an online educational session. In brief, the medical, nursing and administration teams were very supportive. However, an appointment for foot care was not included. Diabetes UK identified peripheral neuropathy as a potential complication of diabetes. I wonder whether the management of Integrated Care Partnership would strive towards including such an essential aspect of care in the management of type 2 diabetes.

  2. Review titled Appointment Mismanagement and Rude Staff Behaviour

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 15 February 2024

Despite arriving on time for my 8:30 am appointment, I was left waiting for 30 minutes without any communication regarding the delay. When I approached the reception desk for an update, I was informed she had not informed the doctor of my arrival. The lack of coordination is concerning, and the response from the receptionist was both unprofessional and dismissive. The receptionist, without any apology or empathy, stated, "well, it’s human error, what do you want me to do." To exacerbate the situation, her colleague echoed the rudeness. This experience is unacceptable and reflects poorly on the professionalism of the surgery’s staff. Waiting nearly 10 more minutes to be seen by the doctor only added to my dissatisfaction. Considering I waited almost four weeks for this appointment to address my high blood pressure, it was even higher following my negative interaction with the reception staff. I strongly urge the surgery to implement measures to prevent such incidents in the future. Patients should not endure both delayed medical attention and disrespectful behaviour from staff members.

We were able to get a same day appointment for my baby and the GP was very thorough and patient and provided us with a lot of information and reassurance - thank you.

  4. Review titled Outstanding support

Rated 5 stars out of 5

    by Helen G - Posted on 18 August 2023

Contacted surgery for follow up from A&E attendance as soon as I mentioned cardiac condition I was given an appointment for today. The GP I met with listened to what I said, provided support & reassurance for my concerns but most importantly he explained everything that A&E had not. I over-run my time but still showed concern for which I was grateful and didn't 'rush me out' of the appointment. Thank you!!

  5. Review titled Abrasive receptionists

Rated 2 stars out of 5

I have held off for years writing this as the doctors themselves are absolutely excellent but sadly some of the receptionists are abrupt and downright rude. Not acceptable customer service at all, especially when the majority of patients contacting the service are feeling unwell and vulnerable.

  6. Review titled Excellent service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I had cause to contact the GP about a small funding application I was making that needed their input. The call I received from the GP, was both on time and very understanding. In addition, the follow-up made by the GP was extremely efficient and the matter was dealt with, within a day of my contacting them. Outstanding. Thank you for the help.

  7. Review titled Grateful thanks

Rated 5 stars out of 5

My elderly husband is, as many men are reluctant to visit his GP. However, this week it was obvious he needed help beyond paracetamol! I contacted the Old Cottage, explained I was speaking on his behalf and the call handler was patient, understanding and on a bad day for staffing found an appointment for him at Stoneleigh. The GP who saw him was kind, professional and entirely empathetic with his situation. I truly am very grateful to her, (as are our family) and as is my husband, who is cautiously well on his way to recovery. In these days of negative comments about the NHS filling the airwaves and social media I would like to contribute our thanks and 100% satisfaction for the care given. Marvelous!

  8. Review titled Fantastic fast and effective response to urgent problem

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Mark Pallen - Posted on 05 January 2023

My 79-year old mother and 85-year old mother are both patients at this practice. Over the Christmas period I noticed a marked decline in their general health and ability to care for themselves. They were no longer able to travel to the GP surgery and I live 150 miles away. So, I called reception first thing on the New Year bank holiday and after explaining the problem to the receptionist, within minutes one of the GPs phoned me back to discuss my concerns. He then organised a home visit by a paramedic from the practice two days later. The paramedic did an excellent job in assessing my parents and putting them at ease, in taking blood and urine samples and making a provisional diagnosis of UTI in both of them. The GP immediately wrote up antibiotics, which were started within a few hours of the home visit. The paramedic recognised the problems my parents were having with self care and the activities of daily living and contacted social services that afternoon to arrange an urgent visit and assessment the following morning. That afternoon the paramedic phoned me and that evening the GP phoned me to give me updates and discuss my parents' problems. I cannot speak highly enough of the professional and timely response provided by this practice!

  9. Review titled Caring and efficient surgery

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Rebecca Heffernan - Posted on 03 January 2023

I want to share my experience today of my GP surgery which is a very positive one. I called at 8.00am as needed an emergency appointment today. I was number 29 in the phone queue but given an appointment at my surgery for 11.00 with my own GP. The call handler did ask what my emergency was so I explained and a note in the surgery explains that they will ask your symptoms in order to direct patients to the right source of help. I was called in to see the Dr 25 minutes after my appointment time, but the surgery waiting room was more full with patients than it normally is. She immediately prescribed the antibiotics I needed for my UTI and as usual was professional but friendly enough to put me at ease. It is good that we now need to wear masks in the surgery, but 2 patients weren’t wearing them. However masks aren’t expected to be worn in my local chemist, but perhaps chemists need to follow suit? However also on the surgery board was a note to say that about 237 people had missed their appointments last month alone! Some of these may have had valid reasons but shame on those who just didn’t bother to turn up when someone else could have had their appointments. It’s people like them that are a hinderance to our NHS. This is what I have shared on my Facebook as I was so impressed with the care and attention I received today at my surgery (Fitznells Manor).

  10. Review titled Exceptional service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by JEP - Posted on 15 December 2022

Having found a lump in my breast, I called the surgery and was immediately given an urgent appointment with a female doctor the following morning. Within a hour of seeing her, I had received a call from NHS Referrals to say I had been referred to the Royal Marsden. As I had previous treatment at this hospital, I also rang the Marsden an hour later, to be told my referral had already been received and I was verbally given the date to attend clinic. Given the Royal Mail delays, the referral letter took 5 days to reach me, so I was relieved to have known the date of my appointment so quickly. Thanks to all at The Old Cottage Hospital for their prompt action in referring my case to the Royal Marsden. And the good news is, that my cancer has not returned!
