  1. Review titled Frustrated

I was sent a text from St John’s medical centre to ask me to book an appointment for tests and if this didn’t happen I would not be issued my prescription until I did. I tried on line to book an appointment I couldn’t so left a message on the nhs app. I then had another text to say I was to receive a phone consultation on Friday 3rd May by the pharmacist. Not sure what this would achieve I visited the surgery to ask for a face to face. A helpful receptionist couldn’t assist me as she advised they work remotely and said to wait for my call later that afternoon This didn’t happen and have not seen or heard anything since. Can you help please?

I visited a doctor who after seeing me prescribed me antibiotics, they asked me to collect after 1pm, as I am really unwell and just wanted to get back home and get into bed, this wasn't what I wanted I wanted to get the prescriprion straight away and go to a chemist myself, anyway I got myself dressed again and went to the chemist for my medication to which there was none there and nothing had been sent. I then went back to the surgery and explained why I was there, to be honest took them a while to see whatever they were looking for innthe computer screen, anyway then I was told that whoever it was, was out on home visit and that they would get them to do it as soon as they were back! So now I have again got to go out when I am unwell to get what I need to make me well, this isn't acceptable as a patient to have to keep going backwards and forwards to find out where there prescription is, if you say you are sending one to your nominated chemist then you should send it straight after seeing the patient, just like when they used to print them and give them to you to collect yourself, I am now still waiting as I want told a time when this would be available to collect, so once again I will have too call to see if it has been sent and if it hasn't, again make another visit to the surgery. For this to happen to someone who is quite ill is not best practice and I am disgusted to say the least that ill patients have to chase up there medications!!!!!

How ridiculous that online repeat prescription requests can only be made during business hours. What is the point of that restriction apart from to make the process more difficult for the patient and encourage them to call instead.

Next day receptionist phoned me and said doctor had got me an appointment for physio, what on earth has that got to do with an enlarged prostate symptoms.

  6. Review titled Wonderful practice

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Marie - Posted on 10 December 2023

The receptionist was very helpful to help me with a health issue, to help me to contact the right person who could help. The receptionists are most kind and always do all they can to help. I just also wanted to praise all the staff working in this practice. I feel highly supported by a skilled and empathetic team where helping, in the best way they can, is at the heart of this practice. I cannot praise them enough and just to say a huge thank you.

  9. Review titled Excellent telephone consultation

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 02 May 2023

An excellent telephone consultation concerning a problem with my blood pressure resulting in an almost immediate one to one consultation with a doctor and a modification to my prescriptive medication If the practioner had not been so professional with his questioning I feel something would have been missed as I don’t give up information that easily! Well done and keep up the good work

Dear Patient, I am sorry to learn of your experience when trying to contact the practice by phone. The telephone system is computerised and should automatically open at 8.00 am, putting all the callers ringing at this time in a queue. I am sorry that this did not happen for you until 8.01 and would like to investigate this further. Please contact me at surgery so that I can raise this with the telephone supplier. I will also be able to check on the accuracy of your queueing position and the reason for this. This will enable us to put measures in place to ensure this does not happen again. Yours sincerely, Angela Timms Practice Manager
