  1. Review titled Some staff go the extra mile and really do make a difference

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Kim - Posted on 08 April 2024

I had an appointment first thing in the morning and was prescribed antibiotics. I was advised to leave it a couple of hours before collecting from the pharmacy. I did leave it 4 hours, however when I arrived it wasn't there. Upon calling Reach back I was advised it hadn't been signed off by the Dr so call back in two hours. I called back and it wasn't ready still .. so I went in on my way to the pharmacy before it closed and it still hadn't been done. I was so unwell and in so much pain and couldn't understand why it hadn't been done. The receptionist that i dealt with remained professional, polite and most importantly when dealing with sick patients - kind!! She grabbed a Dr who just so happened to walk in to the office and they agreed to sign the prescription off for me. If it hadn't of been for this receptionist I would of had to wait another day. This isn't the first time I have dealt with this particular receptionist and every single time she has been compassionate, understanding, clear in her explanations, professional and polite. I really do feel she should be training other staff at the surgery because this is the difference that great customer service makes. Unfortunately the review wonr allow me to write her name but i told her this at the time - don't change, you make a difference when we are stressed, sick and frustrated! Situations happen in this busy world but it is absolutely how they are handled and this is a prime example.

Really happy with whom I saw, he is thorough and pleasant, and made me feel confident in his assessment and actions required. Also, really lovely and helpful receptionist at walderslade practice where I go to. I feel they really put themselves out to help !

  6. Review titled Receptionist fantastic

by Mandy Boxall - Posted on 11 April 2024

Experienced very real difficulties getting through to GP and getting them to issue drugs prescribed. Not really difficult as all on repeat. Just given some for 3 weeks others for 4 or even 2. Took many econsult form and calls to get this sorted. It took a receptionist to work out the amounts I needed to last me a month and submit it to prescribing team. This was amazing but clearly not her job. Prescribed a different drug by consultant and prescribing team gave me a different drug and tried to tell me did same thing. Have they heard of Google? I immediately looked and this was not true. Yet again a receptionist had to do their job for them. She was amazing and kept me informed of what was happening. These ladies take a lot of abuse and don’t deserve it. They are the front line and can only do what GP says. GPs appear not to be reading notes of patients so have no idea that you have a chronic illness which could be life threatening. This has only been since COVID. Please can we have a little bed side manner so that patients don’t feel belittled or that they are wasting time. Not all GPs are like this. Some at the surgery go above and beyond. Thank you for this. Please thank your receptionists they are the image of the surgery and are amazing

  9. Review titled Poor booking system and front serving staff

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 15 March 2024

Whist I understand and appreciate the positive practicalities of an online booking system, this one seems utterly ridiculous. I am unable to make a request on the booking system or via telephone for a future appointment at Reach Walderslade. I have been told by the reception staff that all appointment requests need to be made on the day you are wanting an appointment for, the morning of. The online system is open for 10 mins each morning to submit such requests. Once appointments have been filled for the day, the system closes and you have to try your luck the following day. Whist I understand this approach for appointments needed on the day, removing the option to make future appointments seems absurd. Especially for those who need to plan work or childcare commitments in order to attend a GP appointment. That along with very rude, patronising reception staff who, when I asked how to use the system, advised me just to use it earlier, does not make for a good customer service experience. Reception staff need more awareness or training on being mindful of different patients and vulnerabilities - I was calling on behalf of my three month old which the receptionist was aware of having asked for the date of birth straight away. Being made to feel stupid, regardless of any potential postpartum depression, should not be what a GP service should offer. I can only imagine how more vulnerable or elderly patients could feel like.
