I dont usually bother to leave complaints or compliments but after several dealings recently with the receptionist at Rainham Health I felt I owed them, they have gone out of their way to be helpful in a cheerful and kind manner and have sorted out the problems, so well done girls

  2. Review titled Rude and Unhelpful

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Catherine Newton - Posted on 12 July 2022

Having been with this surgery since 1973, sadly I had to make the decision to change doctors as since the sad death of our GP there hasn't been a permanent doctor in place.

I was advised by the NHS to ensure that I had medication ordered through my current surgery due to the time lapse it would take to change doctors. On 17 June, my nominated pharmacy in Rainham submitted on my behalf my 6 month batch prescription, when I discovered that they hadn't received my prescription I contacted the surgery, I was assured that the prescription had been done and sent to the pharmacy on 20 June. Yesterday, 11 July, I visited the pharmacy yet again to be told that they still did not have my prescription so I contacted the surgery to be told by a rather rude receptionist that I was inactive. She confirmed that a prescription had been done and didn't comment further.

On seeing my utter frustration the pharmacist kindly offered to contact the surgery for me. The receptionist informed the pharmacist that she did not tell me that the prescription had been done on 20 June; she further denied the fact that the pharmacy had sent the request on 17 June despite them being able to confirm this through their system. This request was submitted while I was still a patient, in fact a prescription request for arthritis medication submitted after this was fulfilled. The receptionist told the pharmacist that my new doctor will need to sort this. My appointment with my new doctor scheduled for yesterday has had to be postponed to next Monday due to Covid. My request for this prescription had been sent to this surgery within the time that I was still registered with them and in fact a request for arthritis medication submitted after this was fulfilled. To say I'm disappointed is an understatement.

Dear Catherine, I am sorry you had to write this comment on our website. I have looked into your concern and have spoken to the Pharmacist at Tesco who confirms that your batch finished in June 2022 so therefore no further prescription would be issued before a medication review with the Clinician. I am sorry to hear that you are having difficulty registering with the new surgery. We do our utmost best to deal with all patient enquiries/prescription requests. Apologise if you felt that the reception staff member was rude and not helpful. I will discuss your comments in our next Admin meeting on 16th July 2022.

So many negative things said about this practice, not fair, there must be more people out there that have positive things to say, so why not put in to words the good things about our surgery, I’m sure lots of people are pleased as I am , so go on post on line,

  4. Review titled Not helpful

My elderly parents are patients of this health centre and are unable to get a face to face appointment. They are both hearing impaired finding it difficult to communicate by phone. The staff have not been helpful or taken their particular needs into consideration so they have now suggested that I have the telephone appointment for my mother instead. I think this is very unsatisfactory.

  5. Review titled Would not recommend

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Jessica - Posted on 20 June 2022

This surgery is so poorly run I would highly discourage anyone from registering here. The wait times for a doctor are ridiculous and even then the chances of getting a face to face appointment are slim to none. If you call the surgery for an emergency appointment at 8am you will not get one even if you get through at 5 past because priority is given to people who physically turn up at the surgery at 8am. This is however ‘not allowed’ yet they get the appointments. If you call the surgery at any time of the day please expect the phone to ring and ring for at least 5 minutes before anyone actually picks up. I can’t say the staff are rude or unprofessional but they are very unhelpful, the attitude is ‘there’s nothing I can do’ when trying to help with an issue. No one willing to put themselves out and help you, which you would expect is standard when it comes to the health of yourself and young children. I have tried for 3 weeks to get a face to face appointment and have been brushed off every time.. this is for my 2 year old son who has a skin condition, which has got considerably worse over the 3 weeks. I have been told to call 111 or take him to a and e… the answer to everything apparently.

  7. Review titled Awful Practice

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 27 June 2022

Very Disappointed with the service of this practice. Attended on 13/05/2022 for an Ophthalmology appointment, due to the expectation I would have a cyst on my eyelid removed, I followed the instructions that I would not be able to drive and should travel by other means (meaning as I live in Dartford I had to travel 2-3 hours on Public Transport to Rainham) I was by the doctor (I will not name him here) who examined my condition and stated I had several cysts and that he would be doing any surgery, and that this was a triage. I explained my situation, and that I had travelled 3 hours to get there, and was disappointed I would only have a 5 min triage (and his stating he would refer me for surgery as I would require local anaesthetic) to which he stated abruptly "well you're not dying and it's not an emergency" regarding the potential long wait I would have for a referral and when I asked why I was referred to Rainham when I live in Dartford/Bexleyheath, he stated he did not know and insinuated it was not his problem. To date 27/06/2022 following leaving the clinic I have NOT received a referral notice regarding potential surgery As someone who suffers from Severe Anxiety, having to travel to the Surgery via transport for 2-3 hours to have my time wasted on a 5 minute triage, and the way I was spoken to by the doctor was extremely disappointed. I would not recommend this to others.
