  1. Review titled Passive aggressive recceptionist

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Pam Tipping - Posted on 12 August 2023

The receptionist was initially helpful and friendly until she realised that I had turn up for an appointment made 3 weeks earlier and was not in their system. She then told me to go home and ring up Monday. When I said I wasnt happy with that she told me she wasn't there to argue and to take her advice and go home. Not sure who she thought she was talking to but I'm no kid and I expect better customer service than what she delivered. Smug, arrogant, patronising and aggressive is not what I expect when they have screwed up. I'm leaving the practice not because they screwed up with my appointment I can accept mistakes are made. Not because they arranged an appointment with me previously and texted to cancel it and told me to ring up to make another appointment a few weeks ago ( you cancelled my appointment not me so you ring me to arrange another appointment). I am leaving because I will not be spoken to so rudely by anyone under any circumstances but as this was there error it just makes it worse.

Today I had cause to ring the surgery (my dad's) The receptionist was very helpful The GP rang me back. the GP saw my dad face to face within 20 mins of the call. I asked for a wheelchair which there was no problem with From start to finish it much improved to the service previously given. My dad is 86 and has been with the same Drs all his life What a turn around 5 stars

  3. Review titled Mixed messaged

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I was going to pick up some information that was in a letter for a friend who is struggling to walk. They asked her for help permission and my name who was collecting. I set off and they rung her to say I can’t collect. I contacted them to ask why and I got told she has to send proof in an email I.e a photo I’d like a passport or D/L I disagreed and asked if the email is secured I did not get an answer I just got you don’t understand. I am furious I asked the question as they wanted me to send private documentation via a email address. The patient I was collecting for is due for hip surgery and unanticipated walk and they won’t let me or her husband collect just her. This is a joke she can barely walk. They say it’s for insurance detail that she collects herself and they won’t send by post. They will send if she sends documentation over by email and they will FaceTime her first to verify who she is. She is over 80+ years and don’t know FaceTime what are you people playing at and thank you for hanging up when I said you don’t understand is your email secure

  6. Review titled Shocking practice

Rated 1 star out of 5

Tried for nearly 2 hours to get a separate prescription for one item which was unavailable at Lloyd’s pharmacy. I needed other items on prescription ASAP so only needed one item. By the time I got through on the phone, the prescription desk was closed. It should have taken less than five minutes but after following all your instructions, I still haven’t got it. I had the same problem last month and was given the wrong barcode. This is unaccebtable, and bad for people’s health having to cope with something that should be straightforward. Also, it’s delaying sick people from getting help for emergencies. The thoughts of having to phone them makes me physically sick.

  8. Review titled Terrible in all areas

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 27 December 2022

I was always disappointed with Penketh medical centre and when I moved out of the area and had to change practices I realised that Penketh was even worse than I thought. Dr surgery's always get bad press so I expected my new surgery to be the same as Penketh but it is nothing like it. You still have to wait in a queuing system when you call but never as long and you don't get cut off. The receptionist are always so friendly and happy to help. You get called back when you are told you will and when you go for an appointment usually as soon as you sit down in the waiting room you are called straight through. I have had a lot of dealings with Penketh over the last 4 months as both my parents are ill and I care for them. Every part of Penketh is so time consuming and stressful. Most of the reception staff are rude, unhelpful and don't listen. Everytime I get prescriptions, which is a lot, something is usually wrong. I have taken paper work in, watched the person on reception photocopy it and add notes to the system. Next time I ring and after waiting for usually about 40 min to get through I am told the practice has no knowledge of what I'm talking about. I then get the paper work, drive to the practice which is 35 min drive from where I now live to hand it in again to be told when I get there that they already have the paper work. This has happened more than once. The practice needs a complete shake up and a new experienced manager that can try and turn it all around. They need more full time doctors, last time I looked I think all but 1 or 2 work part-time. Come on Penketh , you can do better, if you don't know how to, ask for help.

  9. Review titled Good experience

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 08 December 2022

I had a health issue which was handled extremely quickly. Thank goodness following Xray, blood test, CT scan and consultant appointment all was confirmed OK which was very comforting and all done within 10 days. The practice is busy but from very recent personal experience I am very happy with this practice.
