  1. Review titled Beyond Disappointed

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Jessica English - Posted on 27 June 2022

I have been a patient at this practice for 20+ years ever since I was a kid & the whole surgery was amazing which is why I stayed on as an adult, in recent years however, it has really started to go down hill. I left the country for 5 years & when I returned I signed back up as it was the only surgery in the area that I trusted, I now wish I had gone with a different surgery when I returned as many others suggested to me due to the fact this surgery is now useless. You can never get an appointment, when you do manage to get an appointment, its phone appointments only, they leave you sat around all day waiting for the call meaning it interferes with work/any other daily plans & my last phone appointment, the GP didnt even call me. I understand since Covid came around its been very busy for all health care professionals however to leave me sat around all day waiting for the call, without any updates during the day is appauling. The call was about my medication & my mental health(which has been 100x worse recently & the GP knew this), it is hard enough for me to take phone calls at the best of times even with family due to my anxiety, so to be sat around waiting all day really didnt help. The same evening I then went on to have a breakdown where I made some attempts to end my own life. I had received a text the same day (10/06) after the surgery closed stating that the GP would call me the following Monday (13/06) as she didnt get time to call me for my original appointment. Long story short she didnt call me back on the Monday & my meds never got sorted. When mentioned to the surgery manager, she looked on the system & told my carer that 2 calls was made on the 16/06 which was a lie & I have the proof as I never clear my call log. When told I was home that whole week due to the fact I'd had a breakdown the week before as my panic attacks kept me in the house for a good few weeks both before & after, the surgery manager just defended her practitioner which I understand but to not believe the your patients at all is disgusting. Then theres the receptionists. I understand for some people a job is just a job, but the receptionists in this GP are beyond disrespectful. Working with public you should at least have some sort of basic manners, clearly this surgery just do not care who greets/deals with their patients. I can honestly say there are 2 receptionists at this surgery (Im not too sure on their names-they're both male) who every time myself or family/friends have been in the surgery have been very extreamly helpful & courteous, the rest of the receptionists come across as extreamly arrogant, unhelpful & are clearly only their for their paycheck. The one positive I will say is that all the nurses are lovely. They're helpful, very polite & are the only positive about this whole practice. It is a shame as this has always been my family GP since age 3/4, I have now had enough & im taking the advice given to me & moving on to another local surgery.

  2. Review titled Appalling

Rated 1 star out of 5

The average call response time in my last six attempts is 45 minutes, and I have consciously varied my times to see if there is any way I can speak with someone quicker. The reason I have to call is to ask for a repeat prescription. The reason I have to call is because no matter how many times I ask for the practice to do this (GP approved) and also apply via the system - I am consistently let down by some kind of fault, which results in me going for days without my medication. There is a severe lack of in-person appointments available - I have been quoted 7-weeks until I can have a review of my asthma with a nurse. Where the practice does offer telephone calls for reviews (I'm not sure how you can take a test on the phone) - we are merely given a window where the pharmacist will call back. Unfortunately, I do also have a day job which means that someone calling within a 3-hour window isn't terribly helpful. I felt obliged to share my frustrations, as I can completely appreciate that the NHS is under significant pressures, however there must be individuals (in more need than myself) in this particular area who are feeling the affects of a practice that quite clearly does not feel obliged to offer a better service. Every call with the help desk feels like I am disrupting their day by making simple requests that impact my well-being.

Dear Patient, Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry that you have experienced some difficulties at the time of submitting the review. You can now book face to face appointments by calling the surgery. Our phone lines do get extremely busy at certain times of the day. We are sorry that you find this frustrating. You may wish to use eConsult which can be accessed via our website. Please note, you do no need a log in. You can use this for medical queries or conditions and this will then be triaged by the ehub GP. Asthma reviews can be booked with our clinical pharmacists of which this can be a video consultation or a face to face appointment which will have a scheduled time. Please feel welcome to contact the Operations Manager if you would like to discuss further. Best Wishes Operations Manager
