    Been calling the line since 8.30, kept saying busy user and finally as 9 I got through. It said there was more than 20 people on the queue! The practice has no capacity! When I finally managed to get through there is no appointments available. It's my second day trying. The receptionist kept repeating that I need to call back again next working day, when I have explained that I have already done so. Disappointing service

    Even though Fernbank medical centre has merged with MMP Saltley centre they do not have the capacity to make appointments for patients. You have you get to Frenbank medical practice at 8:00am sharp if you want to get an appointment at 8:30am when they open their doors. There is always a queue of people waiting outside. Even then reception staff is fussy about giving appointments out their reception staff sometimes can be rude go no specific reason even when you speak with them in a respectful manner they don’t have capacity. There is absolutely no point calling in at 8:30am you will be put in a queue of 20 people in-front of you that’s only if you actually get through others will you will have to constantly call. And hour or 1 hour and 30 minutes when you finally get through you will get the response from the receptionist that there are no appointments available for the day and “you should call back in tomorrow or come in at 8:30am.” I’ve been told by reception that they don’t offer Saturday appointments due to doctors not working which is understandable but what about patients who work and cannot take time off work. I had an appointment today at 19th July at 11:15am with the nurse for a blood test at Saltley centre and I was called by the surgery at 9:25am saying the appointment had been cancelled due to the nurse not being ill. That’s fine understandable but why do you not have cover staff? I waited two weeks for this appointment after my gp appointment. I’ve taken time off work which I won’t be getting paid for. I was offered an appointment on the 1st of August which is 2 weeks away. What expect your patients to do? Take time off work just to fits schedule that fits this surgery? Unfortunately this surgery is incompetent and does not have capacity.

    rang the surgery numerous times early morning, afternoon, evening always on hold more than 30mins and still no one ever answers the phone. this was never the case before the new staff are careless i walked in the surgery whilst on hold for 38mins both receptionists were sat there chatting. where is the management because both need sacking its appalling and stressful for patients

    i phoned up to get a repeat prescription and was listening to a repeated tune over and over again with no response not even the voicemail saying what position in the que i am also it is not free phone i tried again on two more occasions and still no one picked up i then had to get in my car and drive to Lytham to sort it out i asked the receptionist why does no one pick up the phone and she looked at me as if i had gone daft with the words oh i can assure you they do ok so it was me in the wrong even though i had spent over an hour and a half listening to music and adding more to my BT bill

    Trying to book an appointment with this practice is difficult. Either you are met with ‘user busy’ or you are number 20 in the queue.

    I phoned the surgery for a new fit note as it expired 4thOctober but the receptionist told me I should ring back tmorrow as it was valid till 5thOctober.I had copy in front of me but she wasn’t having it.Ithen asked if I needed to call back to see if fit note would be ready to collect and she replied…same as last time..you’ve had one before.The practice is full of polite and helpful receptionists…and amazing doctors…why is this one woman letting everyone down.?If she’s not happy in her job…release her…there’s lots of people would love her job.

    It was one of my worst experience to visit this kind of Surgery, A extremely non cooperative staff, very un civilize behaviour, Moved from Sweden and was my first experience to visit a Surgery I really felt I am in a place where non professional people are employed, Just left the Surgery and moved to Hamd Surgery I really feel the difference, a big difference,,,, I hope NHA will take actions soon

    Apparently you can’t just walk in to the doctor’s, speak to a receptionist and make an appointment anymore. It has to be written on a bit of paper and sent to a central office who will then be in contact. Still waiting almost a week later to here about an appointment

    Thank you for your review, however I am afraid that this is simply factually incorrect. Since our front doors have re-opened we have been asking patients who have difficulty using either online access or contacting the practice via telephone to attend in person at 08:30 when the doors are opened. In most cases those who attend in this manner are able to book an appointment for the same day. I hope you will also allow me to take this opportunity to point out that GP practices nationally are under immense pressure in terms of demand for appointments. This is not an isolated issue in either one area or in one practice. We nonetheless do our best as a practice to ensure that patients receive an appointment with one of our GPs, or are directed to more appropriate clinicians and/or services. If you continue to experience difficulty booking an appointment please attend and ask to speak to a senior member of the admin team.

    Trying to get through to the surgery on the phone is a complete waste of time.I put in for a repeat prescription 6 days ago,still not been signed off,I have run out of pills for my blood pressure.there has been many occasions were I have had to go to the surgery because they messed up my prescription,and not got through on the phone for hours.worse mistake in my life joining this inept surgery, I fear for my life by not getting my life saving medication.once they sort out my repeat prescription I will be leaving this surgery.

    Dear Anonymous, I am very sorry to learn of the difficulty you had in getting a repeat prescription. I hope that you get a better service next time wherever you may be registered. Please note that Fernbank Medical Practice merged with the Saltley Centre for Healthcare back in 2019 and therefore any issues should be referred to the appropriate website for Saltley & Fernbank Medical Practice or better still Saltley & Fernbank (MMP) Medical Practice.
