After waiting weeks for an appointment, arrived 15min late due to m25 accident, to be told the drs wouldn’t see me as they only have a 10 min window. No one was in the waiting room, I tried to let them know I would be late but I was 15 in the queue! Receptionist was uncaring, not interested in listening and smug when letting me know I couldn’t see anyone. She wouldn’t help in anyway to arrange a phone call or another appointment. The fact I was in tears and so ill didn’t matter at all. I left and phoned 111 who got a call back with the Dr from that practice instantly. How is this acceptable! Have the same issues with this drs reception time after time. Horrendous service

Everytime, everyday. It's always the same. Spend hours ringing multiple times over and over to always be engaged. If by chance you're lucky to get through. They have no appointments or phone consultations and to ring back after 8am the following day. Ring back the following day and the same thing happens day after day. Weeks later you're still trying to get an appointment and your issue is much worse. It never used to be this way and has become considerablymuch worse and continues to worsen. They need to revise their appointment procedure.

Dear Patient of Dr Shimmins & Partners, We are very sorry to hear of your experience trying to get through to the surgery and obtain an appointment. Our telephone lines are very busy between 8am to 10.30am and again between 2pm to 4.30pm. We try to ensure that we have at least 2 reception staff answering the telephone and also on our main reception desk (staff numbers allowing). We have many clinicians here which include GP's, nurses, clinical practitioners, paramedics, physiotherapist, clinical pharmacists who are able to deal with a greater variety or medical issues. We have online access available via our website and we are looking at ways to automate our routine call appointments such as review appointments and follow up appointments to allow for the telephones to be less busy. If you would like to discuss your complaint further please do not hesitate to contact the surgery or come to the reception and ask for me. Yours sincerely Christine Wenham Practice Manager

Dear Patient of Dr Shimmins & Partners, We are very sorry to hear of your experience trying to get an appointment here at the surgery. Our telephone lines are very busy especially between 8am and 10.30am and again between 2pm and 4.30pm. Our appointments are always in great demand. We do offer alternative ways to make appointments such as submitting an eConsult form via our website www.drshimminsandpartners.nhs.uk, online appointments available via the NHS APP you can also visit the surgery and book an appointment directly. We strive hard to meet demand and to ensure that we have sufficient numbers of staff on duty in reception to deal with the telephones and front desk to assist patients but it is becoming increasingly more difficult to recruit reception staff due to regular abuse. If you would like to discuss this issue further, please do not hesitate to contact the surgery and ask to speak to me or alternatively ask for me at the reception desk. Yours sincerely Christine Wenham Practice Manager
