Some weeks ago, I was prevented from ordering prescriptions online, because a medication review was due. (I had not previously been asked to make an appointment for one). I called the surgery at 2pm on a Friday (thinking that would not be a peak time) and waited 30 minutes for the call to be answered at a cost of £5.42. More recently, I was asked to make a GP appointment. That time I waited 16 minutes to get through. When I arrived at the appointment, the GP did not know what it was for. I understand GP practices are under pressure and sympathise. (Particularly with receptionists answering calls one after the other from people who have been waiting 30 minutes to get through). But I do think some GPs need to be more careful with the resources that are available.
