  1. Review titled Unable to offer care!

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Karen Ierston - Posted on 13 December 2022

Flabbergasted they're taking on new patients when they're unable to offer appropriate care to existing ones and being unable to pre book appointments is ridiculous. Phoned at 8am and after 133 engaged calls I'm told nothing left, try again tomorrow. Can't fault the staff as they're always so pleasant but this is certainly no way to run a surgery. Thank god for the walk in centre, what's the point in be registered with a GP??

  2. Review titled Phone engaged

Rated 1 star out of 5

I need a doctors note for universal credit, 3 working days in a row I’ve got through to a person at 8:15, 8:20 and now today (22/11/22) wheh I call all I get is the engaged tone, not the recording telling me I’m in a queue just a tone for going on 40 minutes not getting as far as a recorded voice. Three working days of being told to call at 8am, calling at exactly 8am to struggle to get through to finally be told all appointments are booked and to call at 8am tomorrow continuing an indefinite cylce is unaccepptable. I suffer with mental health issues and find the whole experience of Manor Far doctors to be extrememly upsetting and stressful to have to deal with on a regular basis over what will be a 2 minute phone call at 5pm and an email the next day.

Dear Patient Thank you for leaving your feedback. We are sorry that on this occasion your exerperince was negative. On Thursday 22nd November, Aston Healthcare did experience a breakdown with the telephone system, unfortunately this did occur during our most busiest period of the day, between 8 and 8.40am, this breakdown was out of our control as it was a problem with the main server. We know this issue caused patients alot of frustration and can only apoligise for this. A message was added to our website page to notify patients of this breakdown Unfortunately, We do not have any control over the level of demand for the on the day appointments, these are booked on a first come first serve basis. This allows fair patient access to all of our patients. Whilst We do strive to answer all telephone calls as soon as practicably possible but please do bear in mind that the practice is experiencing an unprecedented level of demand, therefore patients may experience a wait time. As you have left your review anonymously, I am unable to investigate if your concern has been dealt with. Once again, thank you for your review. Regards Aston Healthcare

  3. Review titled Worse accessibility than in the midst of the COVID pandemic.

Rated 1 star out of 5

Impossible to contact surgery by phone, often being told that your number is not recognised; no facility to book a routine appointment in advance; website is regularly under review, but no discernible improvements, in fact it is riddled with misleading information. I have completed the e consultation at least 3 times, twice received an acknowledgement, but no response "within 10 days"! I tried to discover the issue by asking at reception, but no help there. I have sympathy for elderly and vulnerable patients. Now I have received a request to complete a questionnaire, but was unable to commit to the patient group. I have read many negative reviews, things are in dire need of improvement.

  4. Review titled Awful

Simply cannot get appointment to see GP. It has been almost 3 years since I last saw one. I managed to see nurse clinician a few months ago but I need to go back to have referral back to hospital to get operation and cannot get appointment at all. I ring at 8am every morning like they tell you to but by time I finally get through all appointments are gone then you get told to repeat process again next day. I have phoned every morning for past three weeks. I also cannot get appointment for daughters asthma review. This doctors surgery also likes to tell you to go walk in centre every time, how are they able to palm people off to a walk in when people cannot see their own GP! Disgraceful.

  5. Review titled Unable to see a GP

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Elaine Mcvey - Posted on 22 October 2022

I have been trying to secure a GP appointment since August 2022. I was advised by my consultant at Clatterbridge hospital to get an urgent appointment regarding my dizzy spells. I’m told the same thing every morning No appointments available. It has now been left to Clatterbridge to secure an urgent brain scan. This is totally unacceptable that a cancer patient cannot get an appointment with a GP even when reception staff was informed that the appointment was requested by the consultant at Clatterbridge

  6. Review titled Impossible to be seen, never helpful

Rated 1 star out of 5

Absolutely impossible to make an appointment. Rang everyday at 8 on the dot for 10 days in a row never getting an appointment. Sometimes I'd be 3rd in queue (and seeing as you apparently cant make appointments for a future date) so would be pretty confident of getting an appointment but lo and behold, all gone! What? You only had 2 appointments for the whole day? If you don't have the staff, tell your patients as it makes it easier to tolerate rather than thinking you just dont care. Had a referral from 111 for my son, turned up and booked in on the screen (so 111 had actually made it, it was there in black and white) only to be told very rudely by receptionist that they dont have that authority to do so and actually turned him away! If only other surgery's were taking on new patients we would leave in a heartbeat, so no i cant recommend this place to family and friends just that any current patients leave if they get the chance!

  7. Review titled Consistently Terrible

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Martin - Posted on 08 July 2022

Like many other reviews, impossible to get appointments but my frustrations come from dealings with the support/admin staff. Prescriptions continually are not passed to the pharmacist for action (pharmacist shows system so confirmed not their error) and when raising this with Aston Healthcare I am always met with ‘it was done’, ‘not our fault’ and ‘we will reissue but can take 3 days to complete’. How this surgery is allowed to continue to perform at the standard it does is incredible.

  8. Review titled Impossible to get an appointment

Rated 1 star out of 5

Discharged from hospital with 7 days meds, was told to book GP appointment for ongoing care. Telephoned the surgery at 8 am on 3 consecutive days to be advised when eventually getting through that there were no appointments available. Was left all bank holiday weekend with no pain relief resulting in having to borrow medication from a neighbour. Finally managed to secure an appointment the following week. Was advised it was a doctors appointment, however when attended it was a nurse clinician who had limited understanding of my condition. Could not advise on adverse reaction I was experiencing to current pain relief (Neproxan) and suggested I take paracetamol. Nurse clinicians are very good with viruses/flu’s/childhood illnesses but was unable to advise on my condition Costochondritus. It was a waste of both of our time. Rang the surgery back in the afternoon to again request a doctors appointment and was told not until end of June. Apparently there are no doctors available, the admin team must be sick of apologizing. I no longer feel safe with the practice, and there is no communication with registered patients as to the reasons for the inadequate service or hope of improvements. I fear for the elderly who must give up trying to get care and ultimately deteriorate. Either the CCG or the CQC should intervene.
