I was greeted by friendly staff and was seen almost immediately I was told what the eye drops were for and what to expect eg stinging. Before the operation everything was explained to me and told to keep looking at he light , that’s all I had to do I was made comfortable on the operation table I felt quite nervous but soon able to relax and everything was soon over A very welcomed cup of tea was then given to me

The staff was amiable. It made me comfortable. Clean place. The waiting room downstairs was good with relaxing music. Waiting time for consultation and surgery was very quick. Apart from that, the waiting room upstairs was very cold. Some heating would be nice. :)

From beginning of assessment to end of cataract surgery on both eyes 6 weeks apart, the staff and surgeon could not be more helpful, considerate and make what might have been a frightening experience, very easy and relaxing. After the assessment, I was given an appointment just 2 weeks later and had no hesitation after first surgery, in arranging the second one.

The Newmedica clinic (Northampton) is a lovely place. I was nervous of my first cataract surgery, but I needn't have been. Everything ran smoothly. The nursing staff and surgeon were absolutely great with my care, and it couldn't have been better.

This is how to run a practice, where everybody works as a team from the moment I walked through the door I felt that I was in good hands. On my first visit It was explained exactly what the procedure entailed and what I could expect during the following procedure, full details of the risks involved were discussed without causing alarm with plenty of reassurance. The first visit involves taking measurements to determine the selection of the required replacement lens and checking for any problems that need to be taken into account, this was done in a calm and professional way by the Consultant On the day of the procedure I arrived a little nervous but was soon put at ease, every stage was explained and carried with care and understanding. Drops were put in to dilate the eye and after a while when they had done their job I was taken in to have the procedure. Once laying on the operating table I was quite happy to just relax and let it happen, I think it must have been the way I had been looked after up to that point that I had no concerns. The procedure went with no pain or discomfort and took quite a short time. With a patch over my eye I was taken to a waiting area and given a cup of Tea and a Biscuit to give me time to settle and reflect. A member of staff stayed with me the whole time and the Consultant came to explain how it went and asked if I had any questions. The aftercare of drops and what I will be allowed to do ie. no bending or lifting for a few weeks was fully explained as was what I could expect with my sight. 1 week on, my ‘new eye’ is now better than my good eye so I think I will going back to have the other eye done as soon as I can. Looking back the procedure went from beginning to end without a hitch, I was looked after throughout. This is a very Professional Team working together as one and I am so grateful for what they have done for me.

Having cararact surgery could have been quite daunting but due to the kindness and consideration by both the surgeon and nursing staff for me this was an almost pleasant experience, with no pain or side effects. I would highly recommend this clinic.

This was my second visit to Newmedica , every one I had contact with were most professional and calming , I discovered a great deal of things about my sight previously unknown to me , I would most strongly recommend this practice to anyone that has eye problems .
