Hurt my hand quite badly on a Sunday, was seen quickly and cared for very well at the clinic. Very lucky to have this unit so close

We arrived at the unit last night, just in time before it closed at 5pm. I had a deep wound on my knee as a result of a fall whilst running. I was seen straight away by a nurse who checked the wound, cleaned it and applied a temporary dressing. I was then asked to wait for a more senior colleague. I didn’t have to wait long. It was too late to stitch the wound so the lovely nurse pulled it all together with sterstrips and glue then applied a dressing and gave me after care advice, telling me to return to the unit if I had any concerns. We were in and out in less than an hour. This is my second visit to the unit, the first not being such a positive experience; however after last night, I cannot recommend this unit highly enough and I am very grateful to the staff there for their kindness and professionalism.

My 2 year old son, slipped over and banged his head quite badly. We went straight to the minor injuries unit and were seen within 10 minutes, the doctor was very thorough and put us at ease. We were so relieved that we didn’t have to go to A & E in Guildford.

  4. Review titled So Efficient and Kind

Rated 5 stars out of 5

So given the current state of the NHS it's lovely to be able to pile praise on a team for the way I was treated. I was greeted by a cheerful receptionist who found my details easily on the system, I was seated waiting only a matter of minutes before what I assume was the triage nurse saw me and took my details and packed me off for an xray. In Xray,I had a similar greeting (note the screen made it very hard to hear but a minor detail) and waited only a few minutes more for an xray. Then it was straight back to the nurse practitioner who was extremely knowledgeable and experienced. She took time to show me the xrays, explain the injury, give me immediate advice and set up a referral to orthopedics. Had I gone to A&E I'd probably still be sitting there. Instead, I was in and out in under an hour. What a great job they did. Really impressed. How things should be. Big thank you.

  5. Review titled Abrupt staff

Visited after being informed X-ray carried out at another MIU did show a fracture after being told previously there was no fracture. Triage nurse was abrupt and rude questioning my reasoning for bring my son there for review. Lack of compassion and communication skills. She made no eye contact, did not bother speaking to my son to put him at ease and gave the impression we were wasting her time.

Arrived with a deep, nasty gash on my calf. Treatment was excellent and the nurse that stitched my leg did a very skilful job, the scar is barely visible. A big thank you to the team.

I went into the minor injuries dept with having very tense sharp shooting pains in my foot which I had had all through the night. I was made to feel like I was wasting this ladies time as I had a booked x ray in few days later - I was told I should of gone to my doctor with this - now I wasn’t to know that I should of gone back to the doctor and not to minor injuries department. She was very dismissive and I was made to feel very uncared for. I also went for a blood test the same week and the lady stuck the needle in so hard I had a bruise that was 2 inches long and an inch wide. I completely understand the NHS staff are under a lot of pressure - I don’t take it lightly going in without feeling it was a serious matter but I was made to feel that I was a time waster. The nurse taking my blood didn’t even say a word to me or even look at me. It was such a difference to last year when I had a lovely nurse taking my blood having a lovely chat with me. I feel there’s needs to be a reminder to staff that we the public don’t always know the procedures and that there needs to be some understanding and compassion when dealing with patients. I’m sure most of the NHS staff are lovely - it’s just such a shame when some aren’t.

Fell over and damaged my wrist. Professionally assessed, x-rayed and out within 2 hours. All staff were friendly and so helpful. The health service's best kept secret! Shame it's not open for longer hours and at weekends. Would ease the waits at A and E

Attending the unit on a busy Monday morning, the wait was acceptable but once seen, examined, x-rayed, re-examined for a fractured hand the care I was given was fantastic my wife has worked in the NHS for 25+ years and I know the pressure these teams are on but they are a credit to the NHS, thank you.
