  1. Review titled Absolute Shambles

Rated 1 star out of 5

I had a very disappointing experience at the urgent care unit. I arrived at approximately 11 pm and had to wait in the waiting area until 11 am the next morning. Throughout my time there, there was a complete lack of communication and updates. Despite my repeated inquiries, the staff provided no useful information and kept telling me that there were only three people ahead of me. This level of service was extremely frustrating and unacceptable.

  2. Review titled The A&E Consultant Patience, and Perseverance. I thank you.

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anthony Cottington - Posted on 01 June 2023

I had a mental object embedded in my leg, like a long picture nail pin over 10mm long. My doctors in London had arranged for me to go to London’s Charing Cross Hospital A&E as soon as I could get there. Which would have been the following Monday; today was Thursday. The doctor from Princess Alexandra Hospital telephoned me at work. The doctor said if I came to Princess Alexandra Hospital, they would remove the metal object embedded in my leg. I had seen the triage doctor the day before, and he recommended I see my doctors in London to get the embedded metal object removed, as I was registered with them to get a referral to hospital. The professionalism of the A&E consultant who carried out the medical procedure and his team to remove the embedded object is something for which I am personally forever grateful because the embedded object did not show up on the ultrasound but only on the X-ray. The consultant took the measurements from the x-ray and was then able to find the embedded object in my leg from the measurements of the x-ray. The medical procedure to remove the metal-encased object from my body was not easy. The A&E consultant persevered and, with the help of his team, was able to remove the metal object embedded in my leg. I am forever grateful for his time, patience, and perseverance. I thank you.

  3. Review titled Amazing with the autistic child !

Rated 5 stars out of 5

Couldn’t praise the paediatric staff enough , they were amazing with my aggressive , non verbal autistic child. They made the situation so much easier and had a brilliant understanding of how he was feeling and they ensured that he was comfortable. They even gave him a bed to lay in so he didn’t have to be within the waiting room . They also allowed him to use the sensory room which helped a lot as he has sensory processing disorder. We were seen and at home within 2 hours and this was a Friday evening. Thank you for making it a pleasant time. All of the staff were amazing thank you

  5. Review titled Great service

Rated 4 stars out of 5

I attended A&E with my adult son who had fractured his elbow. The staff medical and non medical were all very pleasant and helpful. We were diagnosed, x rayed and treated in less than one hour. We were dreading the visit after all the recent press reports on the NHS but we were very impressed with the service we recieved. Thank you to all involved.

  6. Review titled Answerphone issue

Rated 1 star out of 5

When calling rheumatology to change an appt that i had received, i called the number on the letter; answerphone stated person is on leave and to call 827391 to change my appt. Firstly no return date - not a major issue, however after waiting on the line for 1 hour and 24 minutes to be told they do not change rheumatology appointments.!!!!

  7. Review titled Same day emergency care centre

Rated 1 star out of 5

Shambolic, mismanaged and uncaring staff. Do not attend. Go anywhere else but here. Even the A and E at Princess Alexandra is better than this department. Two and a half hours without any information or being seen by a doctor. On a surgical bed and the nursing staff tried to move me onto a chair. Luckily the person with me made sure this did not happen. Asked for an update and met with hostility for daring to ask.

  8. Review titled Terrible experience

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Rosemarie Hannigan - Posted on 11 September 2022

My daughter was left for seven hours in the delivery suite after giving birth before being put on a ward. It took them over four hours to check and weigh the baby. She was left all of this time before being offered even a cup of tea. She was constantly being sick and I had to go and find someone and practically beg them to come and give us assistance as my daughter was getting anxious. I ended up cleaning the baby myself as there were no staff to help and I kept being told that they were very busy.

First time I’ve been to this hospital for surgery on my wisdom teeth and I literally cannot fault them they was extremely caring not once did I feel nervous even though I was as they reassured me continuously throughout my procedure and stay in hospital all staff was very helpful and understanding very professional and well mannered would definitely recommend this hospital I’m gutted I’m not local to the area but to have been allocated this hospital for my surgery I literally am very happy with the whole treatment I was given

Attended Cardiology for an angiogram. All the staff couldn't have been nicer. Very friendly helpful and knowledgable. Very clean ward. Made a scary situation very tolerable. Thank you.
