I visited Gate 8b today to have a gynae procedure repeated as the first attempt was unsatisfactory. I had been given the option to have the procedure done in theatre with sedation or anaesthetic as I did not tolerate it too well the first time. However because my first experience was excellent in regard to the care and support I received, I chose to have it done in outpatients again. I was extremely anxious but as soon as I saw the nurse, who had been involved in my care the first time, I immediately knew I would be in good hands. I cannot mention her name on here but she knows who she is and once again was amazing. I am a nurse myself working for the trust and I know how extremely difficult the job can be but positive feedback makes it all worthwhile and it is the best job in the world. So to all the staff on Gate 8b, keep doing what you do well and remember that a little bit of kindness goes a long way. Thank you.

I am delighted to read of your positive experience and in particular, a member of staff who supported you whilst you were in the department. I will ensure your comments are passed onto the whole team on Gate 8b. Thank you again and I hope you are recovering well from your procedure. Dear Thomas Thank you for your your feedback and on receipt, I sought advice from my Infection, Prevention and Control (IPC) colleagues. National guidelines advise repeat PCR tests should not be performed within 90 days of a positive result as there is the potential for fragments of inactive virus that can be detected by a PCR test following an infection. However, the IPC advice in this particular situation, where a patient has been tested within 90 days and is positive, is a clinical risk assessment to assess if the patient has any new symptoms or has had a new exposure to COVID-19. The outcome of the risk assessment determines the course of action and subsequent communication/action for the patient. I hope the above helps in providing an explanation and thank you again for sharing your feedback with us. Kind regards Clare Blackburn (Head of Patient Experience)
