  1. Review titled Not fit for purpose

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 23 April 2024

I contacted the gp on18th April because my child had the Hpv vaccination at school on the 16th and had 5 nosebleeds on the 17th. He never has them so I was concerned. I spoke to 111 that evening and they said to contact gp the following morning which I did. I received a text saying they've never heard of this happening and its not uncommon for children to have nosebleeds. My child never has nosebleeds and it wasn't unreasonable to be concerned. If I can't trust the NHS to help if things go wrong, I will definitely have to rethink further vaccinations. Literally no patient service at all, only text replies and my child wasn't even checked over. Terrible service!!!

Dear Patient Thank you for your feedback. I am sorry to hear that your child was suffering nosebleeds and I do hope they are better now. All requests for appointments are clinically triaged by one of our GP partners. Outcomes can be giving advice, signposting to the pharmacy or another service, issuing prescriptions, or, if clinically necessary, an appointment will be offered either on the telephone or face to face. In this situation, it appears the GP did not think it was necessary to see your child and communicated this to you via text. If you could email the practice at mseicb-me.nchc@nhs.net with your child's name and the details as per your above review, I can look into this for you and review the decision with the doctor who triaged your request. Please mark your email for my attention. Kind regards Carrie McSpadden Practice Manager

  2. Review titled Great personal service

Rated 4 stars out of 5

As I am not permitted to name individuals, the Diabetes nurse at this practice is amazing. Personal service, genuinely invested in improving patients lives, as she has mine. The NHS may have some faults, she is the exemplar that rectifies them. Pls bring to her attention.

Dear Patient Thank you for your review. I am glad to hear you have previously had a very good experience with the surgery but sorry to hear you experienced problems on Thursday when trying to submit a patient triage form. On Thursday, we closed patient triage at 11am in preparation for the surgery shutting at 12noon. Mid and South Essex Integrated Care Board (ICB) arrange for training once a month from 12-18:30. This applies to all surgeries in Mid and South Essex. Our shutdown sessions are listed in the practice and on our website. We also added this as a note on the patient triage system welcome page and on our out of hours message to advise that the practice would open again at 18:30. During flu season, we try and utilise some of the shutdown afternoons for flu clinics as it means we can get many done in one afternoon. The clinics were run by our nursing staff. Our other clinicians, including GPs, attended the training organised by Mid and South Essex ICB. I am sorry once again that you experienced difficulties on this day. I do hope you have been able to submit a patient triage form since Thursday and have had a response. If I can help any further, please email the practice at mseicb-me.nchc@nhs.net for my attention with your full details. Kind regards Carrie McSpadden Practice Manager

  5. Review titled Terrible Service

Rated 1 star out of 5

The person on the other end of the phone was very unhelpful and did not help at all. I was waiting for a call in the morning, in which I had been told earlier on in the day I would receive a call in the morning. When I called again I was told I had to wait until 8 pm. Would not help or find a suitable alternative. I asked for a manager to call me back and this didnt happen. This is not the first time I have received no help from members of staff.

  7. Review titled Great Experience

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Chunkie - Posted on 16 September 2022

I had an acute medical problem and phoned the surgery at 8.00am when they opened. The telephone system tells you exactly where you are in the queue and although I was number 27, my call was soon answered, and I spoke to a friendly receptionist who took my details and reason for an appointment. I was offered a same day face to face slot and found the clinician I saw very understanding, someone who took time to listen, examine me and help with my concerns. The consultation was not rushed, and I was prescribed medication to assist with my condition and a referral was made to treat my condition. Very happy with the service I received, many thanks.

  8. Review titled Amazing response – Thank you

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by John - Posted on 16 December 2022

I picked my wife up from work, whilst driving home I didn't feel well so I stopped unannounced at the surgery, my wife ran in and explained to the receptionist what was happening, whilst I remained in the car park. Within minutes I was surrounded by several doctors and clinical staff in the car park, asking questions and doing numerous tests, having completed their tests, they then called for an ambulance, I was admitted to hospital for a CT and MRI scan that concluded I had suffered a stroke. If it had not been for the quick thinking of my wife and the staff at North Chelmsford NHS Healthcare Centre I might not be here to tell this tale. Please pass on my sincere thanks.

  9. Review titled Below Average Practice

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Rakesh - Posted on 10 June 2022

Practice rarely has appointments available. Waiting in the call queue for 30 minutes and then hearing no appointments is not patient care. Referrals take weeks to provide, even to private practitioners. Prescriptions are lost. Face to face appointments are refused or avoided. Can never get an appointment with the same GP. Even the medical advise is not satisfactory many a times.

Dear Rakesh Thank you for your review. I am sorry to hear that it has taken you a while to hold on the phone to be told there are no appointments available. Unfortunately, there is sometimes a wait during busy periods but our average waiting time is less than 10 minutes. We have a number of pre-bookable appointments available for routine issues. If your issue is urgent and all bookable appointments have gone on the day, the reception team can speak to the duty doctor to see if you need to be seen the same day or if this can wait until the next bookable appointment. Over 70% of our appointments are face to face. Our reception team follow guidelines set down by the practice to book certain ailments in for face to face appointments. If you specifically wish to have a face to face appointment, you are welcome to request this and one can be provided to you if we have one available at the time of calling. I would be happy to meet with you to discuss your concerns and would ask that you contact me via the practice email address meccg.nchc@nhs.net. Once I have your full details, I will be able to look into your call/s to the surgery and investigate further. Kind regards Carrie McSpadden Practice Manager

  10. Review titled Not great

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Looking for another practice - Posted on 26 July 2022

This practice was fine when we first registered around 6 years ago. I don’t know whether it has been budget cuts or new management but the administrative side of things is now rather poor. Results take ages (like 6 to 8 weeks) to be added to your record. Twice I phoned for doctors appointments in the past year and on both times I was booked in for a call back from the nurse instead. The receptionist had triaged me based on 3 words that I’d used to describe what was wrong. Both times I then needed a call back from a doctor later in the day resulting in wasted time for myself and the nurse. The nurses are lovely though, as are the doctors.
