  1. Review titled Not a good practice

Rated 1 star out of 5

    by - Posted on 19 December 2023

My son called the surgery on 15 December 2023, and was met with a very rude receptionist who he has encountered once before. He was told by a GP from the surgery if he still didn't feel well after taking his course of medication he was told to call the surgery and ask to speak to the GP. This receptionist didn't even ask my sons name, what was the reason for calling the surgery, she told my son to go to A&E, call 111, or call back tomorrow at 8.30. Where is the logic in that reply? Why do they employ people like this to take It upon themselves to decide when a person can or cannot see a Dr. My son had a nasty bacteria infection around the sac of his heart.

  2. Review titled Lack of empathy

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Lois - Posted on 20 October 2023

This has happened to me twice. The first time I was feeling dizzy with headache and my husband brought me to see the doctor but I was turned back to go dial 999 if it was an emergency and I told them if I could just see the doctor at least for first aid. The person at the front desk declined and I had to call the emergency for what I could have seen the doctor for. It took me the whole day at the general hospital. The second time this happened, I had an appointment booked for a screening the next day which I knew I wouldn’t be able to meet up with due to me feeling feverish so I stopped by on my way from work to reschedule the appointment for a later date and since I was already in the hospital I decided to see the doctor because I was so unwell and it was obvious to those at the front desk. I asked if I could see the doctor and they asked with a concern look seeing the way I was feeling what was wrong with me. I told them I was feeling feverish and the person at the desk told me the doctors were only attending to emergencies that I should come back the next day. What other emergencies would you be attending to if not someone feeling unwell and dropped by the hospital. The reason I came by to reschedule was because my body couldn’t go out the next day and you still told me to come back for an appointment the next day. I believe the watchword should be empathy, we don’t have to follow protocol every time if you see someone is truly in need of care. The doctors I believe might not know anything about this but the people at the front desk should treat patients with empathy and kindness and not turn everyone back all the time just because they haven’t booked an appointment. This little act might save lives.

  3. Review titled Excellent practice

Rated 5 stars out of 5

Unable to download your satisfaction survey so, decided to comment here. I attended a mass flu jab yesterday. There were many patients attending. My appointment was for 12.02. From reception to injection and leaving the building took less than 3 minutes. Well done to all staff involved. . .

I had a follow up appointment today for a blood test. It was on time. The nurse was efficient and chatty and told me when to call for result. The receptionist also was very helpful when I was booking travel vaccination appointment.

The nurse performing internal and external ultrasound was lovely - great bedside manner and very clear explanations.
