  1. Review titled Staff attitude

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Kate Jones - Posted on 06 April 2024

Typically busy walk-in NHS clinic - no- one’s fault. Staff attitude could be vastly improved. Abrupt, attitude , verging on rude. Triage clinician asking why haven’t called 111, as can get a prescription over the phone, explained I would like someone to look inside child’s ear, as they have a temperature, pain, fever & blood coming from ear - staff member smirked & said ‘really?, well you know you’ll be waiting 4 hrs or more. Turns out we waited 1 hour, saw a lovely GP, who confirmed middle ear infection with ruptured membrane.

  2. Review titled Get your times right

Rated 1 star out of 5

I had to do a 45 minute round trip to this urgent care practice with a very sick 5 year old in the car only to be told by the rude man at reception that the centre had shut an hour ago i.e 6pm. This is despite I showing on the website that it closes at 9pm. Update your details or continue operating at what you have. Completely and utterly useless

  3. Review titled Not a walk-in centre if you are in a wheelchair

Rated 3 stars out of 5

Full time wheelchair users can still need to access the type of care required at a walk-in centre. However they cannot be examined on a bed at Finchley Memorial Hospital because there is no mobile hoist available; fortunately my sons electric wheelchair reclines and we were able to ‘make do’. However, not all wheelchairs have this function. A hoist is a standard piece of equipment in a medical environment but not making one available (and training staff to use one) is not acceptable in 2023. Under the Equalities Act 2010, reasonable adjustments should be made. Please urgently address this as disabled patients should not be directed to A & E if they need to be examined on a bed.

  4. Review titled Wonderful service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I had an infected hand and visited the centre in the morning shortly after it opened. I was seen, treated & picked up my prescribed medication all within 2 hours. The administration and clinical team were friendly and helpful. A wonderful facility which we are lucky to have.

  5. Review titled Excellent service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I arrived at 7.50am with a sprained ankle. I was given a number slip upon entry. Reception processed me. Within 10 minutes a radiologist made 2 X-rays of my ankle. A short time later I was given a diagnosis and provided with a ‘ski boot’ as it was icy outside and I could not manage crutches. (I’m elderly.) My X-rays were sent to Barnet hospital. Within days I was given an appointment at Barnet hospital on the basis of the x-rays. The service was efficient and pleasant. Finchley Memorial hospital is cheerful, clean and bright and has a pharmacy. It is easy to park there and to register your car at Reception. My only caution to prospective patients is that you should hold on to your number slip as Reception was very firm indeed about taking people in provable arrival order only. I was back home by 9.45am. I thoroughly recommend this Walk in Service, its pleasant efficient staff and the ease of reaching and parking in this location.

  6. Review titled Thanks for the excellent care...

Rated 5 stars out of 5

    by Louisa S - Posted on 09 December 2022

We have used the walk in clinic three times in 6 months for our child. All three occasions were when our GP was unable to offer an appointment and did not respond to an e-consult in a responsive way. Although the waiting times were long, when we were seen we received excellent care. Clinicians took time and care to ensure our son was fully assessed and received the right treatment. I felt heard, respected, and supported. Thank you. Whilst waiting I noticed the triage nurse keeping a check on the waiting room to make sure everyone was being seen and attending to patients with good humor and respect. The facility itself is also great, really modern and comfortable. Nice to wait somewhere with natural light and a window! My only suggestion is please provide better vending machines with some healthier snacks that take card payment.

  7. Review titled Very poor service

Rated 2 stars out of 5

I came with my 3 yr old son. I was told he had an ear infection but would not give him antibiotics as he didn't need. I was told to come back if he got worse. The next day, he got worse and after spending 45 mins trying to get an out of hours appointment, I went back to the walk in centre but was told they didn't have capacity to see me. Even though I had been in the day before. And I knew what was wrong
