Just had an over night stay on ward 12c after surgery, from the surgeon to the porters the level of care was brilliant and so caring thank you all very much, you don't get thanked enough.

  2. Review titled Disappointing...

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Wei Liu - Posted on 29 March 2024

My wife was referred to High Wycombe Urology Dept by her GP as an "urgent suspected cancer referral". We received a letter saying that a telephone appointment was booked for 11.20am on Friday 26th March. My wife works but had arranged to be free for this call. A lady (S) phoned us at 11.05 (not the agreed time of 11.20) - and I explained that my wife was on her way home for the call and would be a few minutes and could she call back a little later, after her next call - which she agreed to do. She also said she had a full schedule and gave me her number to call her back to remind her. So far so good - then it goes wrong: She did not call back and, over the next two hours, I left 4 voicemails on her number - and finally my wife needed to go back to work in the afternoon. The lady eventually called back at 2.45pm and I told her that my wife had waited more than 2 hours to speak to her but, that in the end, she had to go back to work. The lady said "I told you I was busy" and that she would get Admin to re-arrange the appointment. The next day my wife gets a letter from the NHS Buckinghamshire Healthcare Trust stating that "she did not attend her appointment and her care has now been discharged" and that her GP will be informed. This is not a professional or caring response as I understand it. My wife was available for the call at the agreed time and in fact took 3 (unpaid) hours off work to make sure that she was! The fact that it did not fit fit with the caller's agenda that day is not her fault - and for the appointment to cancelled because "she did not attend" is outrageous! Especially in view of the reason for the call in the first place. My wife is understandably very upset and we now have to start the whole process again - and as it's the Easter weekend that means we can't re-contact the GP for another 4 days. If I treated my customers like this in business I would soon have no more customers left. However I guess the Urology Dept doesn't have these concerns...

  4. Review titled Lacking in privacy

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 12 February 2024

My wife attended the urology dept She was being tested for “ urine flow / retention issues” We sat in reception and she was publicly asked personal questions in the waiting area about her passing of water and other prrsonl questions relating to her forthcoming test Absolutely no consideration to her privacy or decency l expressed my opinions at the time however she did not want to impact her procedure . This is totally unacceptable and it needs to be addressed. Her commentary in terms of testing / procedure was good the service was excellent Please address privacy and decency in terms of initial contact

  7. Review titled The most amazing doctor

    by aquariusqk67 - Posted on 21 December 2023

My mother is in her 80s and was suffering with dizzyness and was being sick. We were seen for assessment almost straight away then after a short wait the most amazing doctor saw her and spent time trying to make her better. When her treatment didn't work she referred my mum to a specialist and they rang this afternoon to make an appointment. This particular doctor (I didn't get her name) was brilliant and didn't patronise my mother, just was set on getting her better. Thank you, Wycombe Urgent Care Unit - you were great.

  8. Review titled Efficient and safe patient care despite high demand

    by Xray2023 - Posted on 29 November 2023

I visited High Wycombe minor injuries unit today with my daughter for a fractured ankle. The team from the moment we got there to the moment we left were kind, caring, efficient and highly skilled. Despite a high number of patients waiting to be seen, the care provided was seamless with my daughter getting the assessment and treatment she required within 2 hours. Thank you so much, you guys are amazing!

I’d like to extend my sincere thanks to all at Wycombe hospital for the care that I received during my recent stay. Everyone, from surgeons, anaesthetists, nurses and auxiliaries were so lovely that it made my time there (if only for one night) a real pleasure . My admiration for the NHS continues, and I will always support you!

  10. Review titled Professional and caring team at Breast Care OPD

by HelenaJ - Posted on 30 November 2023

I was very scared on having a call-back following my routine mammogram. I have lost a sister-in-law and a couple of friends to breast cancer. Everyone I met at High Wycombe hospital was caring and kind. The staff in the Breast Care unit welcomed me and explained why I had been recalled, what would happen next and when I would get results. They were understanding and professional, maintaining my dignity and treating me with respect. I felt SO safe and as though they genuinely cared for me personally. I was very fortunate to be given an all-clear so no cancer. Thank God. I was shown my scans with clear explanation, a chance to ask questions and discussion. I cannot praise them highly enough. Thank You.
