One of the worst hospital. Waited for 2 days, for 7-8 hours. I lost my baby due to them. I had called ambulance, replied no ambulance available, went to emergency, such a long waiting, nothing examined said everything normal. Not treated at time I had a miscarriage. Worst hospital 👎

  2. Review titled Wonderful staff and care

Rated 4 stars out of 5

After sustaining a deep leg wound on 11th November which I attended A&E I subsequently having to attend the UTC every two days for the dressings to be changed, as my GP practice had applied incorrect dressings which had worsened the injury. After attending the unit 36 times over a 12 and 1/2 week period I was finally discharged on 6th February. I must praise all staff who looked after me for the professional and caring manner. After so many visits it felt like meeting with friends who kept my spirits up and looked after me over the busy Christmas & New Year period. A big thank you to all the staff who looked after me.

7 hours I waited to be seen today , 3 times I asked how long I'd got to wait and was greeted by rude reply , it's a shambles , seen by triage who then decide how urgently you need to be seen , after 7 hours I admitted defeat I felt to ill to wait any longer

  4. Review titled Designated fire exit locked Sandwell General

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 25 January 2024

Having gone to Sandwell General main outpatients department there is a sliding door which is automatic and then there's a door across from there which you would manually open, the only problem is that door is locked and it is a designated fire exit. What sort of hospital management locks a fire exit which would hamper the evacuation of visitors, many who would be elderly people. When this was highlighted to security a man posing as Security Manager told me "oh people can just use the other exit door." This is the sort of dismissive attitude about health and safety that shows this person hasn't a clue that they can state "oh people can just use the other exit door" there are supposed to be two doors available in the event of an evacuation on the ground floor. Yet one is locked and compromises the evacuation it's as simple as that. It is illegal to lock a fire exit, the fact of the matter also there is a button to press which hasn't got any signage to highlight the button. Even when security pressed button the door was locked and door couldn't open., It seems management and security have become complacent with having that door locked in the first place and it seems to be an issue for them to be told that the door is not supposed to be locked as it is a fire exit. The safety of the people who enter this hospital is paramount but it seems this manager couldn't care less about safety. I've had to contact West Midlands Fire Services with pictures of the offending door explaining the situation.

  7. Review titled Don't have a clue

Rated 1 star out of 5

My son who is 2 has been awaiting grommets was on a 2 year plus waiting list. Was then told that if I get a letter extradite that he wouldn't have to wait that long and that in January on 2023 he was on a 6 month wait thanks to the extradite letter from the gp. Go to call them on the 1st march to then be told the letter didn't do anything and he had a further 15 month wait for a child who cant hear doesn't speak is very development delayed. Doesn't have an understanding of life can't twll you what's wrong the system is a mess don't tell me my child only has so long to then reverse what was said. The consultant excepted the extradite letter but yet whats the point if it done nothing.

  8. Review titled Absolutely disgusting

Rated 1 star out of 5

Take my son to the ENT and the staff in there were absolutely disgusting to us my son has autism and ADHD and I was told oh he doesn’t look autistic by the doctor and the nurse in the ENT I will not be returning to this hospital as I’m sure NHS should know autism and ADHD is a hidden disability and I’m utterly disgusted with the service here

Thank you for highlighting your experience when attending our ENT department at Sandwell Hospital. I am sorry about the way our staff behaved when you visited the service – this is not acceptable. I will ensure your feedback is passed onto the ENT department immediately and we will address this will them. We will also work with them to improve the way patients with autism, ADHD and other similar conditions or disabilities are cared for by this department. This is not the standard of care we expect for our patients and I apologise unreservedly for this kind of behaviour. Kind regards, Johanne Newens, Chief Operating Officer.

  9. Review titled Poor management

Rated 1 star out of 5

I’m very disappointed with the care and efficiency of the service at Sandwell utc and paediatric department. I bought my 13 year old son to be seen as 111 referred him there. He was vomiting constantly and almost fell after using the loo as he was feeling very dizzy and he pressed the emergency button but no staff came so I walked him out slowly from the loo and saw them in the corridor. All they were concerned was about how to stop the noise from the emergency buzzer. I was then sent to the paediatric department waiting for several hours before the doctor was anywhere to be seen. I came in with my son at 4.45 and doctor saw my son at 11.30 and waited further 4 hours for blood results. Staff are under trained. My son was left hungry from 4.45pm. The management of the hospital is appalling. Staff at the UTC sandwell are rude. As I came into the car park. I spotted a car park space, however a staff from the utc decided to stand in the bay so I don’t park there and she refused to move as I reversing, I then realised she was standing there so her colleague can park. I was left to park very far and it made it difficult for my son to walk as he was feeling dizzy. They both ignored the fact I was attending the utc. I am very disappointed with the mistreatment.

  10. Review titled Terrible service

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Marie - Posted on 06 July 2022

My partner took our 3 year old son to A+E yesterday evening with a suspected broken arm. Waited there for almost 3 hours without even being triaged. Begrudgingly, the receptionist informed there were 8 people in front of him just to be triaged, after I asked how much longer we’d have to wait. Eventually I gave up. Left the hospital without being seen by anyone as by this time, my son hadn’t eaten and it was 9.30pm, he was exhausted and cold. This morning I took him to New Cross. Arrived at 9.00am. He was triaged, x-rayed and fixed (pulled elbow popped back into place) and we were home before 11am. I have worked for the NHS since 2010 so I understand first hand the strain on service and the ongoing issues. However, to wait almost 3 hours not to be even triaged for a child under 5, who is in visible pain and distress is unacceptable. I won’t be visiting Sandwell hospital anytime soon and will continue to travel to New across should the need ever arise again.
