  1. Review titled My rehabilitation after RTC

by Broken Biker - Posted on 30 December 2022

In the summer I was involved in an RTC between a motorbike and a car. I was on the bike and I came off very much second best. I’d suffered considerable injury and was air ambulanced to Southampton Hospital where I underwent several surgeries to bolt me back together again. I was transferred from Southampton to Basingstoke and then to Alton Community Hospital for rehabilitation. Alton in their own words were unsure of how to deal with me as my injuries were many. I’d been bed bound for 4 months, I’d lost a lot of weight and my strength and joint flexibility was very poor. The care I was given from the nursing staff was excellent. Always compassionate. The physio team were superb. I was not the usual kind of patient so, even though I was pretty broken, they rose to the challenge and got me walking again. Everyone at Alton conducted themselves with utmost professionalism at all times that was matched by their charm and sense of humour. Thank you everyone involved, especially those on the Inwood Ward. I am eternally grateful.
