  1. Review titled Horrific

AWP talking therapies is an absolute joke. Referred by my GP and told by therapies team I could be waiting up to 8 months to receive any treatment (with a minimum wait of 4 months). I had to seek treatment elsewhere even though I can’t afford it. If you dare seek treatment elsewhere whilst you are waiting they remove you from their waitlist. Not only do different team members give you conflicting information, they are patronising too. You either wait for months and risk your mental health getting worse, or you are forced to go private and pay even if you can’t afford it. Absolutely disgraceful service, no concern for your mental health at all.

  2. Review titled No care in emergency

Rated 1 star out of 5

After waiting eagerly for the outcome of my MDT and treatment plan I’ve been left in an emotional crisis with no answers over when I will get any help. I’ve not seen a doctor or spoken with anyone and you’ve diagnosed me from a telephone conversation that happened weeks ago. I am hugely upset that as an Autistic patient only parts of my needs were considered and the rest ignored. My previous review has conveniently been removed but my comments on that review still stand

Dear Patient I am really sorry to read that you have not received the support you need. From your response it is not clear which team you spoke with and we would like to be able to follow this up for you. We would be grateful if you would contact the PALS team to share more details of your contact and they will be pleased to help and advise you. They can be reached at awp.pals@nhs.net or by telephone at 0800 073 1778 or 01225 362900 with best wishes, Jo Collins, DH of Patient and Carer Experience

  3. Review titled Ring them now if you think you need to

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I just wanted to say, I've spoken to many many professionals over the years and the person I spoke to today was extraordinary. They listened and then took time to inform me with great knowledge, care and understanding, what they knew. If this person is reflective of the service as a whole then it gives me no small amount of hope going forward. It took a little while to get through - which is to be expected - but if you're on the line - hold on - you just might get the person I spoke to and everything will be alright.

  4. Review titled Outstanding support and dedication

Rated 5 stars out of 5

The support that our family has had from the crisis team has been outstanding. They are always available and have helped us feel we are not alone in the very traumatic experience of caring for one of our family members who has serious mental health issues. They recognised the fragility of the situation for the family as a whole and are supporting us to prevent that fracturing and to give our loved one the professional help she needs. With the current economic crisis I feared that we would not get help. As ever, the fact that it has been so brilliant is downto the people involved.

  5. Review titled Patronising and negligent

My daughter has had severe mental health difficulties for several years now which have resulted in 2 suicide attempt, Self harm and now she is under the ED clinic. We visited the clinic today for a fortnightly appointment after she was rushed to A&E a week ago due to self injury, to be told once again that there is a long waiting list to see the doctors and because she wasn’t engaging the session was terminated half an hour early, and I was offered a parenting course. I’m am disgusted at this suggestion. She is unwell, and I need to go on a course to be a better parent. She was beside herself after the session telling me that she wanted to end her life. What exactly are you doing to support my daughter. I will not rest until she gets the support she deserves. And she is seen as unwell. Not just another problematic statistic.

  6. Review titled Didn't expect any help. Sorry AWp.

Rated 3 stars out of 5

An evening, weekend call. Really stressed and on the edge of things. Bad thoughts and feeling. Unable to cry. I spoke to a fantastic mental health adviser at 111. Had to convince her not to call the police. I didn't know if I really wanted to live or die. This had been going on for days and weeks, beforehand. Physical pain and horrendous mental well-being. Not coping. (I normally avoid AWP. They seem impotent in ability to help me). The 111 mental health adviser, said she was "deeply concerned about me." After our long conversation. She said she'd ring the local AWP Intensive Service, I'd be put on the four hour call-back. I said to the 111 advisor, my landline was working, but my mobile phone wasn't switched on, it was on charge. I switched my mobile on at the end of our call. I had literally, that minute, missed a call-back from a local AWP member of staff from the intensive team. I tried calling them back. No answer. End of call. No help. No second ring back from them.(Probably) ok at AWP. because they tried to reach me by phone. Paperwork, legalities in order. They did their bit. When AWP gets inspected by the CQC audit team, they'll see they tried to call me. No answer from me. AWP and CQC will assume everything was ok from client. No!Neve mind. I didn't expect any help to happen, when I was talking with 111 Mental Health Advisor. I'm guessing, there's lots of problems of NHS staff recruitment and retention, probably bad, in an expensive city. "A failure of it's success." It doesn't help with the crazy cost of living, petrol prices, per litre, etc hitting record high. Much sympathy for these NHS Staff. I wish them well. I try to avoid AWP at all costs. Some good or ok experiences. Some horrendous experiences. They're good at some areas. I got so much help from the right people, in the right places. It confirms my anticipated response from a partial skeleton of staff. (Not enough staff). Full stop. Stop refering to the latest DSM book. Staff, F!'s F2's, some consultant psychiatrists. Look at the person as a person. rather than label. Don't judge people by a new diagnosis. over riding a previous diagnosis. There is a Scottish Female psychiatrist at Uni of Bristol. teaching liaison psychiatry and 136 interviews. Get some of the nurses, nurse associates to speak with the next generation of would be psychiatrists, psychologists and nurses who genuinely like people and want to help clients Thank you for reading all this.
