  1. Review titled People who make a difference.

Rated 5 stars out of 5

Attended an endoscopy appointment with quite a bit of apprehension. Every member of staff I encountered were helpful, happy and supportive. The procedure was carried out on time and I was able to leave the hospital after a very short recovery period. A great example of the NHS team working together from testing to consultation and finally the procedure and follow up.

  2. Review titled Exemplary practice

Ward 29 bay 1 staff from cleaners, caterers, nurses and doctors were brilliant in terms of attitude and professionalism. Nurses were very good at explaining what was happening and reassured those who were nervous about procedures. Cannot fault any of them especially on how they dealt with older patients who were clearly disoriented.

  3. Review titled Above & beyond

Rated 5 stars out of 5

The Dental Core Dr at 5am on 28th Dec who cared for my son after an X-ray showed a possible broken jaw and compromised teeth went above and beyond. She was amazing, doing a fiddly procedure calmly, explaining clearly and reassuring us throughout. Excellent treatment after 7hr plus wait in A&E, including once home a phone call at 8:30 am to confirm there was no fracture. I cannot thank this Dr enough nor the A&E Dr who bothered to send for her as he could easily have sent us home without the extra check. Fabulous teamwork, thank you both (and the X-ray staff) for the professionalism and care!!

  4. Review titled Unfortunate incident after been so helpful

Rated 4 stars out of 5

My mother in law had a fall and broke her pelvis , she was in A&E for over 8 hours waiting for a ward bed , this did not help as she is on palative care due to bladder cancer . Eventually she was moved to ward 37 and got settled in , and needed the toilet , she was taken but the chair/commode she was on collapsed and she slid to the floor banging her head and body. We did not know this until we visited ward 3 where she was eventually moved to. We as a family and the fact my mother in law is 79 with a fracture and cancer and really ill had to endure this. Please follow this up as we dont want anyone else to go through this un necessary fall . We never got the full details about the fall. She is now aching from the second fall more than the first. I feel she is now in better hands in Ward 3 the staff are very good, hopefully she makes a full recovery to allow her to go home for her final days . Regards Glenn Smith

  5. Review titled Fully Engaged

Rated 5 stars out of 5

Whilst visiting my father in Ward 31, the interactions we have had with all of the staff has been excellent. What I have found most refreshing is whenever I have approached the desk, everyone has made eye contact with me and asked how they can help. Although they are all extremely busy, they treat every request as though it no trouble at all.

  6. Review titled James Cook Ward 12

My father recently spent some time on Ward 12. You have some wonderful staff and the healthcare assistants are angels - everyone of them . Doctors and most of the nurses are wonderful too. I appreciate you are v busy but communication can be better as my mum was rather flippantly told by one of the sisters that she was discharging my dad( she only knew this as my mum had seeked her out). When my mum questioned if he was well enough , the sister told her well we haven’t got time to keep seeing him. My mum went home crying and my dad passed away eight days later . I think this particularly sister who I would refer to as efficient rather than caring could do in some training in communicating with loved ones . I can’t fault the other staff .
