Dear Alan, Firstly, I hope that you are recovering well from your recent surgery at North Tyneside General Hospital (Rake Lane). I am very pleased to hear that you would highly recommend this hospital and the care which you received. Having an operation can be daunting, so it’s important that you were put at ease and felt reassured. I will pass your kind comments on to the staff who looked after you. Thank you for taking the trouble to write your review so soon after your operation. Best wishes, Heather Heather Gibson Patient Experience Team Manager

  4. Review titled Appointment information

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 25 September 2022

In August I rang outpatients to advise of upcoming holidays in Sept and Oct having been waiting for an appointment following a cancellation by them. I then receive an appointment for the very time I am on holiday and now back on the waiting list!! The promise was that I was now on the top of the list. I just hope my condition isn’t escalating as I wait to be seen.

  5. Review titled Rude secretary

Rated 3 stars out of 5

I was on the phone to a secretary and she was extremely rude and made me feel very uncomfortable on the phone after I had been forwarded to her by another phone line. It’s put me off ringing to ask for help as I now feel anxious about this.

  6. Review titled Impeccable healthcare staff let down massively by reception

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 20 May 2022

Nurses, porters and doctors were absolutely fantastic, very kind and caring and made me feel very safe. The reception staff however definitely need some retraining in terms of adressing individuals with mental health and invisible issues. They were very hostile and blunt whilst I was hyperventilating, suffering from extreme anxiety and an overdose. This almost made me walk out the door as it made me x1000 times more nervous to be there, and in fact it was patients surrounding me that helped me calm down and breathe whilst they made a snide comment. I can imagine it must be a stressful and repetitive job however empathy is absolutely crucial when working in a hospital, and it costs absolutely nothing to be kind to those in need. I feel as though they are unaware of how much their actions can affect somebody who is already struggling massively as they are the first port of call and can scare away people already terrified to even enter the hospital. This is not meant to be hate, I am sure they had their reasons and maybe just had an off day and probably get lots of silly patients, but perhaps a bit of retraining may benefit them.

Dear Sir/Madam, I am deeply saddened to read your review, we wouldn’t want to deter any patient from accessing care and I am sorry that you were made to feel this way. Thank you for taking the time to bring this to our attention, we would like to do all we can to look into the concerns you have raised. Firstly, it would be helpful for us to know the date and time that you arrived into the hospital. This will allow the relevant senior leads to speak to the members of staff who were on duty at the time. Please email us privately at patient.experience@nhct.nhs.uk and I will look out for your message. In the meantime I will share your anonymous review to the relevant teams for their internal reflection and learning processes. I will also make sure that your feedback regarding the nurses, porters and doctors who cared for you is also shared with appropriate staff, I am sure they will very much appreciate your comments on their care. 7. Review titled Very thorough staff

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 27 April 2023

I wanted to say a big thanks for your time. It was very busy and the whole time in the clinic was very well organised. The breast clinic staffs were all very understanding of my stressing. I am glad I got it checked, even though it was nothing bad, as it’s put my mind an ease. The staff were and uber professional, very informative and all smiling and thoughtful. Thanks again and take care all at the Breast clinic at Wansbeck Hospital.
