  1. Review titled Urgent care

Rated 2 stars out of 5

I experienced nothing but rudeness when attending the centre today from both the nurse and the doctor. When you are unwell enough to have to use this service, you do not expect to be spoken to rudely or as if you are being a nuisance by being there. Neither of them really listened to concerns or symptoms and some things were just not acknowledged at all! Having been referred by 111 for an urgent appointment (as GP was not able to offer an appointment for 3 weeks) feeling very unwell, the service was just not as expected. It is not like people choose to have to use this service, they have things that they would much rather be doing, a little compassion and respect makes the world of a difference. On the other hand, the reception staff were helpful in keeping people updated of wait times and answering queries.

There was no water and was told they had no drinking water on the premises, I was supporting my 2year old grandson and his mother who is due to give birth in 2weeks , it’s disgusting that basic human needs are neglected

Fantastic service and spotlessly clean war bunker! Unusual place to have a x ray but highly recommend treatment here. Professional friendly staff who gave clear explanation of procedure. Spacious waiting area with a lovely atmosphere.

  5. Review titled Do not recommend

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Gabriela - Posted on 02 March 2023

We had to wait about 2 hours and got told it was because "we booked in for an illness when it was an injury" by the lady. We know we didn't as all the questions we answered were injury related, so it must have been an error. The woman also had an innappropriate tone when talking to me which was not professional at all especially in a hospital. This isn't the first time she was rude and disrespectful to us as we have come here before. The service was good however the way she dealt with the situation was not acceptable.

Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback, we welcome all feedback which is shared with the wider team to improve our service. Having checked the system yesterday the waits were comparable for both illness and injuries most of they day, so regardless of how you booked in it would have had very little bearing on the waiting time. However, I am sorry if you felt the situation was not dealt with in a professional manner and this will be fed back to the staff, but am glad to read you were happy with the service. 6. Review titled Poor Urgent Care Service

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 01 March 2023

My four year old was really poorly we called 111 and said to go to Erith Walk in for 7. We then waited an hour checked with reception desk to find out how many people are in front of us she said we are after the lady that’s just gone in. The lady left and the doctor kept us waiting another 30min! In total an hour and half wait! Once in the doctor asked the usual questions saw she had a rash saw her throat was red, high temperature and stuck a stick down her throat which really upset her as she was not ready didn’t even warn her. He then said well it could be a virus or borderline scarlet fever. I asked well which one is it as Scarlet has to be treated. He said well just to cover ourselves let’s just say it’s borderline scarlet fever. So I said can you give me antibiotics for her? He said no just do what you’re doing and give her calpol. My daughter was in tears regards to her throat being so sore and him being so child unfriendly! He was so unprofessional and not child friendly at all! I went the next day for a second opinion to another doctors surgery as she was deteriorating and found out she did have scarlet fever and was given the correct medication. I’m glad I went with my gut feeling he got a second opinion. I will never go to Erith Walk-in again!

Thank you for your feedback, we welcome all feedback and share it with our wider team to improve the service we offer. Please accept my apologies that your visit to us was not a positive experience. Regarding the waiting times, whilst we do our best to keep them to a minimum in busy periods like we are currently seeing, they are often higher than we would like. Due to the fact our service provides unscheduled care we do not have any control over the volume of patients attending at any one time. I am sorry to read you felt the consultation was not conducted with the professionalism that we do expect from all our staff. I am afraid I am unable to comment on the consultation as I do not have your Daughter's details, but if you could provide me with them I will be able to investigate and provide you with a response. I am glad to hear you sought further medical treatment for your Daughter and I do hope she is recovering well. With Kind Regards Sue Hopkins Senior Operations Manager Bexley Unscheduled Care

Had to attend this afternoon ( 22/2/23) for two x-Rays and I would like to compliment both staff working in the department this afternoon. They were both so polite and efficient. A real credit to the NHS. Thank you both.

  8. Review titled Excellent care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

Visited with a knee injury and was back home within two hours. Fantastic care from the triage nurse, the doctor and x-ray department even though they were at capacity and working under immense pressure. I did have to queue up outside for a short while as it is one-in, one-out system when at capacity but there is now a little tent to wait in out of the rain (no chairs, just standing room).

  9. Review titled X ray Dept. very unhelpful bordering on lazy

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Carole Thorogood - Posted on 20 May 2022

I am currently undergoing diagnosis by my GP for a mystery ailment. Following numerous blood tests, she sent me to the Xray dept at Erith Cottage hospital for a Urgent Xray. It clearly states on the form that a 'walkin' is available and no appointment is required. I arrived on 20.05.22 at around 09.15. Apart from 2 members of staff behind the reception, there was nobody else present and no patients waiting. I handed over my paperwork and was told by the radiographer that she had no available time and that the next available appointment was not until 30th May. When I pointed out that this request was Urgent. She simply said "Sorry, I cant help'. If the paperwork clearly states the Xray is urgent and the hospital advertise they carryout 'walkin' patients for urgent matter's, why are the staff so reluctant to help. In the meantime my diagnosis is delayed further and I have to continue suffering with severe pain and lack of mobility. Fortunately, my visit to Queen Mary's having been refused treatment at Erith Cottage, went far more smoothly and the staff were both pleasant and extremely helpful and understanding.

We were very sorry read of your disappointing experience within the Xray Department at Erith Hospital. It is however, reassuring to see that you did get your Xray furnished at Queen Mary's Hospital. We have sent your feedback to the Radiology Department Manager so that they are aware of your experience.

  10. Review titled Terrible service. Uncaring support staff.

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Keshia - Posted on 05 July 2022

I visited urgent care as my son had a temperature over 40 degrees. When I arrived there was three people ahead of me in the outside queue. It started to rain, and there is no shelter. I rang on the intercom to ask whether we can just stand inside, the person who answered stated we can not as there is a limit, I said to her I am not trying to sit down but as my son has got a high grade fever, is shivering, and it was heavy rain, could I just stand inside by the entrance to ensure he doesn't get wet, as this can be dangerous for him she refused and said we have to wait outside. I couldn't take the risk so I asked the lady in front of me to save my place and I went to get my car so my son can sit inside to make sure he doesn't get wet. We stayed in the car for approx 20 minutes. At this point the lady in front of me had been allowed to go in, she told the people behind me, that I had to put my son in the car and that I am in front of them. Me and my son walked back to urgent care after parking the car, I rang the intercom and I said to the lady I was behind the lady in blue, could you please let us in, please bear in mind it is still raining, the lady said I will have to wait outside because I left the queue!! I said to her I just quickly went to park my car as I had to put my 3 year old son in the car as I couldn't risk him getting wet! She said as I left the queue I have to wait outside. I said could I please just stand inside to avoid my son getting wet. At this point it was just me and him waiting outside, bare in mind I am also 7 months pregnant which I made her aware. She then hung up on me on the intercom. I called back but she didn't answer. 10minutes later after standing in the rain, she then said I can come inside and opened the door. I was in tears at this point, as my anxiety is through the roof for my son being so ill and standing in the rain. I said to her I am unhappy, she said why are you unhappy, I explained to her, I could have just stood to the side to avoid getting wet as my son is ill with a high grade fever, I said to her fair enough if my son had a broken finger for example or stomach ache but a temperature and shivering, it is not ok to leave is outside in the rain, she said my issue is with my GP as they should have seen me and I shouldn't take it our on her. And that they are only allowed a certain amount of people in and that's that. I said to her you are not looking at me like a human being, my issue is not with the wait time, my issue is I have a 3 year old son, who could get severely sick standing in heavy rain and the cold when he was a temp of 40 degrees and is shivering and if I didn't put him in the car we would have been standing in the rain for approx 40 minutes. She told me not to argue with her and put my details in the IPAD. I was completely shocked and disappointed by the lack of care and consideration the staff had shown.

Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback and I am sorry to hear your experience when visiting the Urgent Care Centre was not a positive one. The Urgent Care Centre at Erith is very small as you may have noticed, and in the interest of patient and staff safety there is a cap on the amount of patients that can safely wait inside at any given time. When demand exceeds capacity we have no alternative but to temporarily stop admitting patients. It is the patient's choice if they wish to wait outside or explore other ways of seeking medical advice such as contacting their GP where an appointment can be given or calling 111. We do expect a certain level of professionalism from all our staff and I am sorry if you felt you did not receive this on the day you attended.
