I suffer with mental health issues because impart as I child I was constantly told my feelings and perspectives weren't true, and was given a 'correct narrative'. Which is exactly what happened today at my assessment. From being told I'm surprised you didn't bring this up sooner, to being told after I asked for a break after 10 minutes, we have only just started. It was the worst assessment I've ever experienced. Worst still when I complained to a mental health nurse and additionally mentioned the reason I'd been told Id been rejected from the mental health team before, not scoring high enough on a chart to being told that's not possible because we don't use charts. If I didn't already have a deep understanding of how gaslighting works I would of seriously questioned my sanity and my reality over the last five months. Others might not have this awareness, your treated as a mental health patient not a human being, nothing was questioned seriously,a sense of very much you have emotional issues so straight away your perspectives of the present are not true. I left feeling completely powerless and retraumatised rather than supported.

Review titled Useful CBT therapy sessions

Just to say that I found the CBT sessions I recently had at the Sutherland Centre for anxiety ( I have bipolar) were very helpful. Would recommend therapy to anyone with mental health issues. If it isn’t offered, then ask for it :)

I have been trying to get through to the centre since Christmas largely to check if I still have my video appointment. A new medication has turned very dark and I am experiencing horrendous side effects that I can't just ignore any more. There is no way to get to the Duty professional and alert them to this

Thank you for taking the time to leave your comments, we do appreciate that it is frustrating for our service users when they are unable to contact us by phone and we are sorry that you have had this experience. This was in part due to some technical difficulties with our phone system which we have now resolved. Our phone systems have been updated and improved so we can now respond to calls promptly and efficiently. We would like to apologise to you for any inconvenience this has caused you. A gentleman called me as arranged. He took interest and answered all my questions and the Care Plan reflected how I feel.The Clinic letter arrived very quickly. I feel the the change of management has been a success.

I had a video chat today with a very nice and understanding man. He took the time to talk to me and about my past and current difficulties . That had been a fault with some previous professionals who were more interested in changing meds and not looking in my best interests. This gentleman was very nice and did his job. I felt reassured by him. A definate keeper if we can.
