  1. Review titled Weekend Staff Issues

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 28 October 2023

My father has been a patient at Lings Bar for several weeks now and generally his care and the staff have been excellent for which I thank them. However on 3 separate weekends I have noticed a considerable deterioration in the level of care he’s received e.g Medication left for him on his tray, Nothing on his feet, left wearing the same clothes for 3 days, and staff basing themselves outside the’24hour’ ward at the tables rather than within the room as I believe is a safety requirement. No management available for me to raise these concerns with as it was a weekend.

  2. Review titled Compassionate care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Pippa Ward - Posted on 10 October 2023

My father was admitted to Lings Bar Hospital, John Procter Ward for rehabilitation after a fall. We were hopeful that it was a chance for better things for him but unfortunately his health deteriorated quite quickly and he had to receive end of life care. All the staff were kind, compassionate, respectful and nurturing towards my Dad and got to know him as a person. The care he received was exemplary. Similarly, the way we were treated as a family was outstanding, we were consulted, listened to, included and cared for personally every step of the way, given 24 hour access when the time came and helped to navigate a very difficult and upsetting situation. Thank you to everyone involved in my Dad’s care in his final days, the doctors, ward managers, nurses, health care assistants and domestic staff, you are all admirable.

  3. Review titled General standard of care

    by empathyfy74 - Posted on 16 March 2023

My mother was at Lings Bar hospital, Nottingham (Castle Ward), as part of her ongoing recovery from surgery and illness. I wish to put on record my thanks to those that cared for her, not only for the way they looked after her, but also the way they communicated with family members. I greatly appreciate all that you have done.

My Mother aged 93, received physiotherapy and was treated with great respect and care from all staff at Castle ward. I cannot speak highly enough of them. They were professional, polite and efficient. The ward was very clean and tidy. I would highly recommend Lings Bar.

  5. Review titled Who is there ?

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 20 December 2022

I rang a switchboard which I assumed was a direct line to Ling's Bar only to find out that it wasn't despite the number being published as the Ling's Bar number. After several calls I was told there was no patient under the name I had given resident. There was and is as they have later confirmed, but I find it astonishing that they initially told me that my friend wasn't there ! They have also given him no explanation as to why he remains there, as he feels fit enough to go home.

I was so sorry to read about your experience. It's frustrating to hear that they were unable to confirm your friend as a patient was resident. This may have been due to a number of reasons, one of which could be due to confidentiality around your friends admission. I have shared your feedback with Lings Bar Hospital as they may be able to give you a further update. I must also apologise for the delay in responding to you. The feedback has been shared with us via nhs.uk and it may be that the staff who would usually reply may not have received an email alert about your experience therefore the length of time to respond is longer than we would like. We really value any feedback about our services as it's the best way to improve on what we do and to listen and respond to feedback both positive and negative. Kin regards Jane

  6. Review titled The brilliant care of my late mother-in-law

    by Mandy123 - Posted on 09 March 2023

My late mother-in-law was admitted to Castle Ward at Lings Bar Nottingham for potential rehab after a hip replacement for a pathological hip fracture. Although there was an expectation for her to have some recovery, her health deteriorated and she passed away on the ward. The staff on the ward looked after her in her last couple of months and gave us 24-hour access to her when we were told she was on end of life care. They were kind, compassionate and caring to her and to us, her family. We all want to say a huge thank you to the whole team. Thank you for your care, it was very much appreciated.

Brother with Korsakoff's in Lings Bar Hospital, Nottingham. They have been brilliant, caring, and always kept me updated. Gone above and beyond to help my brother, who has memory issues. Each and every member of staff has shown that they care about the patients.

  9. Review titled Care and compassion was exemplary

by RylandC - Posted on 11 November 2022

My partner of 40 years was admitted to Lings Bar in September for rehabilitation work following surgery for a hip fracture at QMC, Nottingham. She had been in QMC for two months after successful surgery during which time she had picked up an infection. She was barely conscious for three weeks, not eating, lost a stone. After recovery from the infection she was confused and agitated most of the time when awake, otherwise sleepy. Transfer to Lings Bar seemed a good move, "let's see how much mobility returns then we'll work out how to live". The staff started work the day after admission, however after 10 days in discussion with a doctor I learnt that she had mixed dementia with a life expectancy measurable in months, four days later it's weeks, she passed away on 15 October. The care and compassion given to Pat was exemplary, staff are engaged with the patient, a cheerful and respectful approach at all times. Towards the end I was shown the same compassion and help, they could not do enough for us both. The facility is permanently clean and tidy, the food is good. Despite important procedures they know when to be flexible for a family. I'm bereaved but happy Pat was in the care of Lings Bar at the end. I cannot praise this hospital, it's staff and it's attitude highly enough.

  10. Review titled "Staff are amazing, friendly & professional"

by Lings Bar - Posted on 10 June 2022

Care is about people not procedures and they get the balance right. Food: Although sometimes excellent has strange combination of vegetables and sandwiches are never what you order.

For relaying to the service user Thank you for asking the team to log your feedback, it is really important to us to hear your views. It is great to hear that your experience of the team was positive. We are aware that feedback regarding the food has been received and we are working with our catering team and dietician to review and improve the food choices. Our catering team have assured us that if patients or staff raise an issue at the meal, they will try to rectify it as quickly as possible. We will ask our ward staff to advise the catering team if there are any concerns and to offer alternative sandwiches. I will also pass on your comments to our catering team. I'm sorry that meals have not been as you expected. Please do tell us at the time so we can do our best to meet your needs.
