  1. Review titled Turned away from Covid booster jab.

Rated 3 stars out of 5

I received a letter that said I had been, quote, 'identified as a priority for receiving a further dose (a booster) of the Covid-19 vaccination to give added protection'. I booked a booster & attended Wareham Community Hospital where I queued for an hour. When I eventually entered the building, a gentleman informed me that I wasn't entitled to have a booster unless I had a letter from my GP explaining a medical condition. Unfortunately, I hadn't taken the letter I had received with me & I was therefore turned away. I have had previous Covid jabs as a priority because I am in an 'at risk' group with no problems & without being challenged & subsequently turned away. I'm disappointed that it was inferred I was a liar & turned away after queuing for an hour. It was embarrassing to receive a lecture in front of others waiting for their jab.

I am sorry to hear that you were turned away from our vaccination centre at Wareham Hospital. We must ensure that we vaccinate patients who have been declared eligible by the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation and patients who have received a national letter usually bring it with them to prove their eligibility. We have asked the national team to review the letter to emphasise the need to bring it to your appointment and have reviewed the processes on site to accommodate people who have forgotten their letter. Thank you for your feedback it allows us to improve our services for the future.
