  1. Review titled A very smooth and professional procedure

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Jonathan Hauxwell - Posted on 02 April 2024

I attended this centre for diagnostic sonography. I arrived early and waited only 5 minutes and was called early for my procedure. The Sonographer and the chaperone were friendly and welcoming and very professional at all times. The procedure was quick and comfortable. The centre is only recently opened, I understand, but it is well designed for patient comfort and safety. Well done Eccleshill and well done NHS!

  3. Review titled Truly OOH Service!

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I was referred to this hospital after I called 111. It was quite late on Easter Sunday afternoon when I rang and I was given an appointment for 8:15pm. The reception staff were very helpful and the doctor was very understanding giving me some measures I could take until getting the prescription he gave me filled. At least I was able to get some sleep that night having had very little the night before. A good experience when I was not feeling at my best at all.

  5. Review titled (Almost) Painless Biopsy

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Keith Hill - Posted on 04 February 2023

Called in for an outpatients Bone Marrow biopsy and related blood tests. Everyone (including a Doctor) had told me how painful this would be and was a prelude for diagnosing cancer, so I was scared stiff on arrival. First impressions of the outpatients department was favourable - clean and bright, with everyone rushing about but cheerful. The two members of staff who were going to do the procedure were very solicitous and the whole procedure was explained in one lump - and then gone over again, step by step, to make sure I was aware of what would happen and why. I then hit the first of two problems - the table I had to lay on was not built for obese patients! I think that it was about six inches wide and needed all three of us to get me into the required position. Once in situ the male Nurse showed me how to use the gas/air machine if I felt I needed it (and stood in vision ready to hold me down if I tried to escape?). The biopsy was conducted with a constant commentary of exactly what was happening and there was only one little bit of pain which made me wince, then I was told it was all over and that I just had to give them an armful of blood. This done I was taken back to the Day Room for a very welcome cup of coffee and to await transport home. I had been told that I had a dressing over the biopsy site which had to be kept on for 24 hours, but the second fault I found with the procedure was that no one said the hip was going to be bruised and very uncomfortable to sleep on for two days! My conclusions: nice atmosphere, clean, uncluttered areas. Great staff who treated me with professionalism, courtesy and kindness. They seemed genuinely intrested in my views - and even laughed at my jokes. I hope never to have to undergo another bone marrow biopsy but if I do, I hope that I have it in the same place with the same staff. My respects and thanks to them both.

Dear patient, Thank you for taking the time to post about your experience, apologies for the delay in responding, I have only recently taken on the role of responding to Care Opinion posts. It was very reassuring to hear your positive comments on the environment, professional, kind staff and the detailed explanations of your procedure. I am sorry you found the table you needed to lie on as unsuitable and that you were not warned about possible bruising as a result of the biopsy. I will feed back all your comments to the team and I can assure you that the above two issues you have raised will be considered. We value all feedback from patients as this can help us to identify where we can improve our care and services. Your positive comments will also be appreciated by the team. Thank you again for your feedback. Best wishes Catherine

  6. Review titled Very disappointed

Rated 1 star out of 5

I was referred by 111 to the out of hours GP. I appreciate all the advice the GP over the phone had given. I was given an appointment on the day at the out of hours hospital. Impressed with no the waiting times but very disappointed in the care from the GP. I had been very unwell and the GP seemed very unbothered, I seemed to be in and out of the door within a minute. I didn't question his clinical side as I was too unwell to, I feel like he didn't want me there or to help treat me. Also travelling from the other side of Bradford for a minute talk was a waste of time for me.
