  1. Review titled Accident and Emergency

Rated 1 star out of 5

As I write this my daughter in law is currently sat waiting in A and E following a car crash. So far waiting to be seen by a DR for 9 hours! Severe abdominal pain , vaginal bleeding. No pain relief for 5 hours and now the pain is getting worse. This is appalling care with no member of staff taking notice other than stating it takes 7 hours to be seen by a Dr, then a comment made stating “you’re next” only to still be waiting an hour later. What the hell is this !!

Hi my name is Catherine and part of my role is responding to posts on Care Opinion. I am very sorry to hear of your daughter in law's experience following a car crash, this is not the care we aim to provide and I would like to apologise for her poor experience. Winter pressures, including increased attendances and admissions, are affecting many acute hospitals across the country. This, along with staffing pressures in a number of specialties, has had a negative effect on the service we are able to provide. So that we can look into the issues you have raised I would encourage you to contact our Patient Experience Service (PALS) on 01274 364810 or by emailing patient.experience@bthft.nhs.uk. We, as a Trust, value all feedback, positive or negative, as a way to drive improvements to our services. Thank you again for raising your concerns. Kind regards Catherine Healy Patient Involvement & Experience Co-Ordinator Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust

Firstly apologies for the delayed response. I am very sorry to hear about your wife's experience after the delivery of your baby. That is not the experience we strive to provide our patients, I am very sorry that your wife had to wait to receive her pain relief and that she was provided with medication that she was not clear about how to take. I am sorry that you felt that poor communication and lack of compassion made for a bad experience for you and your wife. Kindness is one of our key strategic priorities here at the Trust and it is very disappointing to receive your comments about your experience. We value all patient feedback and use it to help improve care and treatment for all our patients. It is very difficult to respond to the specific concerns you have raised without being able to investigate your concerns in more detail, I would therefore like to encourage you to contact our Patient Experience Service (PALS) on 01274 364810 or by emailing patient.experience@bthft.nhs.uk and they will be able to discuss your concerns in more detail. Apologies again for your experience, Kind Regards Catherine

  3. Review titled After care nightmare

Rated 2 stars out of 5

My midwifes were absolutely amazing when i was in their care. Its the after math that I struggled with. Night shift team consisted of just 2 people for the whole ward. How embarrassing and ridiculous. I was left for hours and hours without proper care when i was suspected to have sepsis. The people who did my after care on the first day didnt even bother making proper notes of my situation as i overheard another nurse asking to which she said she hadn’t done yet. Anything could have happened and she did not take my condition seriously at all- it was someone from another ward that actually saw the state I was in and helped me- and I am very grateful she did otherwise I would have suffered for longer. Because of that one nurse I was moved to my own room to which I spent the next 5 days. I had another amazing midwife/nurse who would go on to look after me in the night however she was stretched thin as there were only two on the whole ward. That is absolutely shocking and disgraceful as there are other women also in their care that may have needed just as much help if not more. They not only tried their best but did an amazing job in comparison to the day team. Do better and have more staff on duty as two people is simply not enough. Our health matters. Also whilst being taken to my own hospital room, a nurse decided it was appropriate to expose my breast to breastfeed my baby whilst I was shaking and crying. I was not comfortable and exposed to strangers that access to that corridor as some were coming to see their partners. This has left me absolutely traumatised from my whole experience at BRI due to the lack of compassion in 85% of the staff and lack of care in regards to women who come in. I am expecting again and it has left a bitter taste in my mouth as I will absolutely not be coming to BRI due to my horrible experience almost a year ago.

Was told to take my child to ward 32 to be sat there for 5 and a half hour and nothing be done except her bp and temp 3 hours into the visit I then had to repeatedly explain why we was there for us to be told she will be seen in outpatient’s and to wait for an appointment and this is just today also spent 12 hours on ward 32 for them to mess blood up by mixing bloods from purple to yellow tube and loosing urine samples to be then sent home with antibiotics that they couldn’t actually provide and had to get them from gp following day it was a absolute shambles and if it comes to light there is something majorly wrong with her I will be suing absolutely ridiculous

  7. Review titled Wrongfully diagnosed.

Rated 2 stars out of 5

Came to A&E with trouble breathing and strong chest pain, dizziness etc... ECG came out just fine, so that's all, without any further investigation doctor told me I have heartburn, which was not the case and I know how it feels to have heartburn...This doctor wanted to feel my abdomen but she did ridiculously strong with some kind of anger that my liver keep pain 2 days after... She gave me gaviscon and some tablet and go to waiting area... After while they ask me to go to Green Zone, where finally a very great doctor sent me to x-ray, listened to my chest, checked blood results and it was lungs issue not heartburn.... Not happy with A&E department service provided.
