    my wife was given a time between 12-1pm and date a week or so ago by pennygate medical centre for a telephone consultation it was a call I had been worrying about ever since the appointment was made and was glad the day had finally arrived however I was not expecting the call at 10:10am while I was having a shower??? i rang straight back to the surgery and was told that I would have to make a new telephone consultation appointment why??? we have not even reached the allocated time of between 12-1pm which you gave my wife?? We are told numerous times to stick to appointment times and dates be it at the hospital or doctors etc etc does this not apply to you as well??? this means my wife has to carry on worrying for however long she is given for her next telephone consultation appointment?? Plus will they ring on the time she will be given? or will it be 2hrs early again?? totally unacceptable!!

  2. Review titled Dismissive and rude

    My mum has dementia and brain tumours who has recently been in hospital due to a fall and a bang to the head which caused her shunt to move slightly. Since leaving hospital she recently has experienced more falls and getting worse. The doctor rang me to ask what the problem was I explained and she basically asked me what I think was wrong I explained I have no idea what's why I am calling to have some form of investigation a new up to date brain scan maybe, I was then told if anything was wrong on the scan there is no treatment anyway. I found this doctor very dismissive disrespectful and an extreme lack of care. Although she apologised I feel this is not acceptable and more care and actually listening to patient should be considered in future

  3. Review titled 4 weeks to speak to a nurse

    Diabetes bloods came back abnormal receptionist says you need to speak to a nurse how about next Tuesday which I thought was good but then went off to speak to someone else and came back with 10th April … 4 weeks difference it’s just as if it’s ok only diabetes !! Not a care I know it’s a busy surgery and staff do the best they can but really does need improvement .. I’ll just wait as usual

    Tried to get an appointment with any GP early this morning for any upcoming time (did not expect to get in today) however was then told that the rotas for upcoming appointments had not been released ( this intimates that the surgery doesn’t yet know which doctors are in next week and when those who are working are actually on duty?)I was then offered a telephone appointment which I declined. I looked on my GP app and found that the next available telephone appt was 11th April which is over 3 weeks away surely this is not acceptable?

    Accessed askmyGP Monday morning to arrange to speak to a practitioner about my worsening symptoms. A phone appointment was made for Tuesday at 7pm. I waited but nobody called. 24 hours later and I am still waiting to be contacted. My symptons are not getting better but it seems that you have to be on deaths door before somebody actually makes an effort. The system is no better than trying to ring the surgery.

    Good morning Paul, I have looked in to your comments and can see that an appointment was arranged for your with the GP Alliance, Out of Hours service. Your records show that they did attempt to contact you however your contact details on your record appear to be incorrect.     I have been on hold for almost 15 mins then then line goes dead, how are people who work supposed to make contact with the surgery as the phones either don't work or you get cut off ?? this is my 4th time trying to get through to the surgery and i find it unacceptable

    My daughter is on medication for depression and we have been to see a private consultant as the camhs service in Wigan is not fit for purpose. After a review on the 11th April a letter was sent to Pennygate to increase my daughters medication gradually over the next 2 months. We called in earlier this week (2nd May) to ask if anything had been received as the medication was running low. Nothing received can you please contact your consultant. Consultant sends a copy of the letter / email to Pennygate and copied my daughter, who 2 days later goes to check that it has been processed. Oh no its sat here and its been here since 11th April. why has it not been urgently processed as we were told it would be earlier this week? Why was it not mentioned that it was just sat there when we went in earlier this week? What on earth are they doing in a medical profession, if they have no concept of patient care I dont know what has happened with the practice but the service has gone down hill massively. You cant get through on the phones, unless you are lucky you cant do anything on the App and we wonder why A&E is rammed

    Tried my gp this morning to no avail tried ringing there phone as been taken off the hook which I find diabolical for a gp surgery what are people ment too do when you go to A&E its wronge they tell you go to your GP then they don't even answer the phone and switch my gp off after half an hour find the hole system ridiculous i will be writing a formal complaint to the NHS

Firstly i would like to sincerely apologize for the poor experience you have had. It may be easier for us to speak over the phone. I would just like to re assure you that we have not at any point taken our phones off the hook, we have three members of the reception team at every point in the day answering the calls as quickly and efficiently as they possibly can. Due to very high demand, we have a maximum que of 10 people, therefore if you try to call us when there is 10 in the que it will not connect you until a space becomes available. We understand it is frustrating and we empathize completely. It is something we are looking at changing. With regards to the Askmygp, it is a decision that has come from the GP Partners, this morning alone over 200 requests have been received within the half an hour window, any more could become unmanageable and clinically unsafe as well as the requests coming through via telephone and front desk. We are actively looking at re opening online appointments as we have previously. This will mean you can log on at any time during the day and make an appointment with a clinician.     It is impossible to access the surgery. The phone lines are only open half the times they say they will be. When they are, you wait 20 minutes to be instantly hung up by rude receptionists. When you want an appointment with a particular doctor, it's never possible. Half the doctors are rude and uncaring. The other half don't seem interested in treating patients at all. There's not even a reliable online service. It's open for 30 mins per day and sometimes not even at the quoted time. This entire surgery is a disgrace. Avoid if you can because not a single member of staff cares. They'd rather be on break.

    This surgery has gone horrendous. They are actively stopping patients from be able to access the support. They have limited the use of ask my gp to 30 minutes in a morning and have removed the option to wait on hold when calling. They advice using alternative services such as 111, gp alliance or a & e which is just an inappropriate use of these services and has resulted in diverting demand to more urgent services unnecessarily, which are now unable to help as they are at capacity. This needs to be resolved quickly! People who need help are being left to bounce around services with no help being offered!
