  1. Review titled Receptionist & locam doctor giving wrong

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 09 August 2023

Had an appointment with locam doctor who said i needed a knee xray, he said as he was a locam he couldnt arrange this and said i would have to ring surgery the following day to ask a regular doctor to request the xray, and once this was done i could collect a "yellow sticker" to take to the Infirmary to get my xray done, after waiting in a queue on the phone line for 1.5 hrs i was then told by a receptionist that i had been misinformed & that my xray request had been authorised & i could collect my yellow sticker ready for my xray & i neednt of phoned, i asked if i could attend the Infirmary without my yellow sticker & just give my details as it would mean me making another journey to the surgery but i was told no i had to collect my sticker, so after rushing to the surgery after work i was then greeted by the receptionist who couldn't find my yellow sticker & said i didnt need one & i could just give my details at the infirmary, i asked why 2 members of staff at the surgery had said i needed a sticker - the locam & the telephone receptionist - and she could not explain why. I wasted 2 hrs of my day on the phone & driving due to being given wrong information. To make matters worse my appointment was for pain relief, i explained what tablets i had been taking that were having no effect on my extreme pain only to be prescribed a different weaker strength tablet which ste a lotsl waste if time & at a cost of nearly £10 i cannot afford, may as well throw my money away!!!!!

I was seen straight away by the ablest doctor I have been to in my life. Took my concerns down and quickly arranged a blood test within minutes .gave me good information about my possible condition. Outstanding.

  5. Review titled Appalling patient care from receptionists

Rated 1 star out of 5

Back in November I had similar problems to what I’m facing now, where you just cannot seem to get past the receptionist at all, my child is 1 year old and I was refused an appointment in November for 3 days, I eventually got an appointment and the doctor was shocked when he saw the condition of my sons eyes. My son is 1 year old and has had this “cold” since October, he has had one course of antibiotics which were prescribed by out of hours as I couldn’t get in at the surgery, surprise surprise. Again I am facing the same issues, I set off to work at 7:30am and the surgery doesn’t open until 8am by which point I am 30 mins away. I asked for an afternoon appointment so my child can be seen as this is in infection as appose to viral (the same as when he was prescribed antibiotics) I was told I cannot have afternoon as they are not released until the afternoon or when the morning slots have filled. Having worked in a GP surgery before I know by about 9:30am latest all morning appointments will fill given the high volume of calls with patients requesting appointment and so I’m pretty sure leaving a gap in a clinic at 8:10am wouldn’t be a problem to fill. So now I will call at 1pm knowing full well by the time I call there will be nothing left as the morning appointments will have filled and the afternoon already released. Given the fact he is 1 year old, I have a 2 year old as well, sitting in urgent care because the GP surgery reception don’t seem to “care” working in a healthcare environment is not practical. I would not recommend this surgery to anyone and in fact I am in the process of finding an alternative. It’s a shame as when you actually get to see a doctor or speak to a doctor the doctors are actually lovely and very helpful and understanding

  7. Review titled Very satisfied

Rated 5 stars out of 5

To day we visited the surgery for my husband Lawrence. We saw a young girl Mumtaz Khatun she was very professional in handling the issue of my husbands blood result. She put us both at ease with her Calm Manner. Then the doctor spoke to us after. Thank you to both of them.

  8. Review titled Time saver

I am so impressed at how much time I save by using patches for booking appointments etc. No more waiting on hold and using up a slot for someone who might be in more need than me. Very easy to use and prompt replies to my questions/requests.

  9. Review titled Great practice

Went for flu jab today and as I am vegan I was able to request the vaccine which does not contain egg. It was no problem at all for them to accommodate my request. The practitioner who administered the vaccine (including the Covid booster) was extremely pleasant. Highly recommend.

  10. Review titled Caring and considerate

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Sharon Mcgee - Posted on 01 October 2022

I have been registered at Mark Street surgery for the past 28 years and feel the service provided to me when needed is excellent. The GPs have the time to listen and explain things to you in simple terms. I have never felt rushed at the surgery when seeing a GP or a nurse. The only reservations I have are over the past 2 years some of the reception staff have gone worse, I feel they have no companion or empathy, they don't listen to you. I am the most calm person I know but feel that calmness disappear when I speak to some of the reception staff. I understand they are busy but they need to understand people contact the GP surgery for a reason and should listen and take on board what the customer is saying. Maybe those in question need to complete further training in customer services. I myself deal with customers on a daily basis and treat them the way I like to be treated. The reception is the first point of call and if patients are not treated in the right manner from the start unfortunately it will have a negative effect on the GP surgery.
