  1. Review titled Great service today from the nurse

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Tracey - Posted on 03 April 2024

I’ve not been to my GPs since they moved to the new centre and I was a little nervous to go. However there was no need as the nurse I saw today was fantastic. She was caring, compassionate and helped with my anxiety. She listened and I felt understood as she was patient and kind and took the time to speak with me. I received very good care from her and the receptionist today and have completed trust in her and the practice. I’m happy to say that I can recommend this practice. Thank you Mags

  2. Review titled appointment

Rated 1 star out of 5

the unacceptable telephone service i experienced with droylsden road medical practice on april 2nd. despite my efforts to contact the practice promptly at 8:00 am, i encountered significant difficulties that i find deeply concerning and indicative of a broader issue within your appointment scheduling system. initially, i was placed as number 18 in the queue. after a considerable wait, my position improved to number four. however, after 45 minutes of waiting, my call was abruptly disconnected. this was not only frustrating but also disheartening, as it seemed to undermine the effort and time i had invested in trying to secure an appointment. upon attempting to call back immediately, i was dismayed to find myself placed back at number 18 in the queue. this cycle of waiting and disconnection without any resolution to my call is unacceptable. it raises serious questions about the efficiency and reliability of your telephone system and, by extension, the accessibility of healthcare services at your practice. this experience has left me feeling disregarded and at risk, given the potential implications of delayed medical consultations. it is imperative that patients have reliable access to healthcare services, and the current system in place appears to be failing in this regard. i have previously raised concerns about the practice's services through numerous letters, but this incident compels me to demand immediate attention and action. the repeated issues i have encountered suggest a pattern of inadequate service that cannot be overlooked. treat this complaint with the seriousness it deserves and take prompt measures to investigate and rectify the issues within your telephone and appointment scheduling system. the health and well-being of your patients must be a priority, and the current practices seem to fall short of this essential standard.

Dear Ant, Thank you for your feedback. I would like to apologise for the experience you had today. We have had significant IT issues this morning, which affected our phone lines and the clinical system. A message was sent to patients at the earliest opportunity to advise of the issues. This issue was affecting many practices across Manchester. We would like to reassure you that ever effort was made to resolve the issues as quickly as possible. If you still require assistant please contact the practice and a member of the team will help you or if you would like to discuss this matter further, please contact the practice by email or telephone so we can arrange a meeting. Yours sincerely Lyndsey Tunney - Practice Manager

  3. Review titled auditor experience

Rated 1 star out of 5

wish to share my experiences and concerns regarding the transition of droylsden road medical practice to the new newton heath health centre. While some aspects of this change have been positive, there have been notable issues that have affected patient care and service delivery. Firstly, I encountered a significant lapse in communication when a referral for an essential investigation was misplaced, an error for which the practice later apologized and rectified by issuing a new referral. This incident caused me considerable anxiety, as the potential consequences of such an oversight could have been grave had the condition been more serious than it turned out to be. Additionally, there has been a noticeable reduction in the number of general practitioners (gps) available. Following dr. ali's departure, the practice has not recruited a replacement, relying instead on locum doctors and nurse practitioners to fill the gap. This shift has led to a reliance on nurse practitioners for initial assessments, which in my experience, can result in delayed treatment and prescriptions due to the necessary confirmation from a gp. I also experienced inefficiencies with the prescription process. After a consultation, I was informed that a prescription would be sent to my pharmacy; however, it was not completed by the end of the day, and one of the prescribed items was missing. This issue was further compounded by the practice's prescription policies, where a pharmacist declined a repeat prescription, resulting in an acute episode that required emergency treatment. I have utilized the gtd feedback system to communicate these issues to the practice manager, receiving responses that highlight the challenge of catering to the needs of 7,000 patients while still accepting new ones. However, these responses do not address the core issues of reduced gp availability, reliance on less experienced staff for critical health decisions, and inefficient prescription handling. From discussions with other patients, it's clear that my experiences are not isolated, with many expressing frustration over difficulty accessing gps and concerns about the quality of care. This situation suggests a need for a comprehensive review of the practice's operations, staffing, and patient communication processes to ensure all patients receive timely and effective care. In summary, while i appreciate the efforts of the practice staff under challenging circumstances, the reduction in gp availability, reliance on nurse practitioners for significant health decisions, and issues with the prescription process are areas that urgently need addressing to improve patient care and trust in the practice.

My Doctor phoned me at 8.30 am for a health review. He wanted to see me and by 9.30am I was in his office being examined. That’s 1 hour after the phone called. Booked in for blood tests and x rays tomorrow. Couldn’t be any better could it? On top of that there is a new lad on reception. Only been there a couple of weeks. Really pleasant young man.

  6. Review titled Impossible to make appointments

Rated 1 star out of 5

I give this health centre a 0 out of 1000 because you can never get an appointment! Even when some patients are vulnerable adults or under social services The waiting is always a que on the phone or actually going there. They don't help you at all the staff are useless and especially when you need an inhaler I don't recommend this place

My husband received excellent care from the doctor, nurse and the receptionist at the practice. It is so comforting to know that this practice really cares about patient dignity and well-being. Nothing was too much trouble. Thank you so much.

Telephoned for chat with a GP. Phoned me back within 30 minutes, prescription at the chemist within 45 minutes and arranged a hospital visit for tomorrow. I have only ever had 2 arguments in the surgery and they were with other patients who were being so abusive to the staff.

After being on hold for over 20 minutes, 6th in the queue was told all appointments had gone. this had happened 6 times in the past 10 days. Cannot book as only accepting on the day appointments. since when has it become a lucky dip to see or speak to a doctor? i would have better luck winning the lottery!

I’ve got 2 operations on my spine. In March 2021 I did MRI in the Northern Manchester Hospital. Still waiting for the results and meeting my GP or surgeon because I’ve got pain in my neck and back where the operations were done.
