  1. Review titled Appalling practice

Rated 1 star out of 5

I have been with Unsworth since I was a baby. I am now 39 years old. This was an amazing practice when I was a child, with doctors who were part of the community. It is now just a mess. Emails remain unanswered, it takes over 2 weeks to get a simple blood test and patients are still unable to request a face to face appointment with a GP without having to go through a triage call first where the doctor will determine if they want to see you. You never see the same doctor twice and it feels like they are doing you a favour. I feel very sorry for the reception and front line staff here who have clearly been instructed on protocols which do nothing but upset and annoy patients. The legacy and good name the former partners built up over 30 years has been utterly destroyed and the current partners should really be ashamed.

  2. Review titled Service is ridiculous

It takes over 30 mins to get through. When blood tests are required it's over 2 weeks to get them. The door is still locked. When the buzzer was not working a patient in the waiting room had to open the door for me.

  3. Review titled Extremely poor communication and care

Last week I collected a repeat prescription form Rowlands Pharmacy. When I checked the contents the warfarin I had requested was not included. I rang the pharmacy who said they would request a prescription. Today I was told the surgery will not issue a prescription because I have not shown the record book. This is not correct; I took in the book in early June. Furthermore, why did the surgery not contact me earlier? If I do not take the warfarin I could have a major stroke, or even die. do they not care about their patients?

  4. Review titled Zero communication

This practice is appallingly run. The door is locked, the phones say they're too busy and to call back later, then cut you off, emails are ignored. There is no transparency, no empathy and no clear process for complaints. I don't know if staff are aware of the tremendous stress their stonewalling creates, but if you are looking for a new GP, don't join this one!

  5. Review titled Poor NHS

The telephone service is awful. When you join the que at no 4 it can take well over 40mins to get through. I don't understand why it takes that length of time. Sometimes it's even longer. They promise prescriptions are being sent to the pharmacy but when you go they are not there. As many patients are saying they are still using the covid excuse for the poor service.

  6. Review titled Disrespectful , incompetent practice.

I ordered a monthly repeat prescription 8 days ago. When I rang the Pharmacy they said Unsworth Medical Centre had not actioned the order. I rang the surgery and was repeatedly cut off after being told “ring later” so I send an email to try to make sure I get my medication before I die from not taking my pills. I get no reply or acknowledgment to my email so next day I rang to see what’s happening. The rudest aggressive short tempered receptionist just says “it’s been ordered and will be at the Pharmacy now “without explanation or apology for their delay and tries to rush me off when I ask why Unsworth Medical Centre hadn’t actioned the order a week ago to which she replied “ It’s not my job to answer that !” What a way to deal with a problem they had brought about ! I rang the Pharmacy to check to be told the prescription has not yet arrived - call back later !” Even with my old age pensioner disability movement restrictions I will be looking at going to a different surgery.

Trying to get an appointment here is a nightmare, you have to receive a call which not everyone can in work hours! All week I've been trying to get my results, baring in mind there apparently urgent! Receptionist clearly not listening on the phone, this practice is the worst I've ever been!

honestly i would advise anyone who is looking for a new practice to go else where, unsworth medical centre are still using covid 19 as an excuse to not see patients, they have telephone appointments, yet the phone is barely answered. the receptionist are rarely ever at their desk answering the phones like they are supposed to do. the door is always locked and if you wish to enter you have to speak through the buzzer which they also take a while to answer. if you wish to pick up a prescription or sick note etc, you have to wait outside and they bring it to you. if you’re looking to be diagnosed with anything they’ll do it over the phone, how do they know if they won’t see you face to face, ive had 2 counts of this where i have been given an incorrect diagnosis. i have been looking to put some medication on a repeat prescription but the receptionist fobbed me off and said they’d ring me back and never did. i have been trying to get a general appointment but no one is answering the phone. you are told that if it is an emergency to call 111 but if it is not an emergency, who are you supposed to speak to? the practice is only open 9am until 6:30pm, yet they don’t take phone appointments after 5pm, the majority of people work a 9am-5pm job so when are they supposed to call? tried to get a blood test that i had been told that i needed and they said that they’re fully booked for 2 months and sent me else where, how can that be. if you can’t get through over the phone ‘use mygp app’ what if you didn’t have a phone you could? also if you are over 16 you have to phone the doctors yourself, a parent cannot do it for you, yet you have to be 18 to use the mygp app. this just doesn’t make sense to me!!

  9. Review titled Not much changed since the sept 2021 review

The practice is still not seeing many patients? There are still 5 doctors but only 2 were on. One person was waiting to be seen. There is a fast turnover of admin staff. Masks still have to be worn. Without face to face how can correct diagnosis be made. Surely there are still the same amount of patients that need to be seen. Is this the norm now?
