The nurse was absolutely brilliant and understanding. She explained everything perfectly. She understood my issues and was very friendly and easy to talk to.

  3. Review titled Difficult experience

Rated 2 stars out of 5

I recently decided to contact Alistair Ross surgery due a groin pain which had been getting worse over a period of 2 weeks. I did not hold out much hope of a quick appointment but was pleasantly surprised by the helpful receptionist who provided an appointment that afternoon with a Gp. After a brief examination it was decided that i should have a scan for a possible hernia and the Gp would organise this. A few days later I received a text from appointments to contact them to arrange a date for the scan. When I contacted them they gave me a date a month later with no ability to improve it. Obviously the GP had not attached any note on the urgency. After trying to get a more timely appointment with no success I had to go to the A&E department. I was eventually admitted for 3 days and 2 nights while a scan was organised. The hernia was diagnosed, was put on the priority waiting list and discharged. I was then contacted by a clerk from Alistair Ross asking if a doctor could have a telephone conversation with me. I naturally agreed and had a useful conversation later that afternoon on why I had had to go to A&E. The conversation finished with the doctor pointing out that if the symptoms got worse to contact the surgery without hesitation. The symptoms have become worse and I contacted the surgery for a telephone conversation with the Dr as he had started the process by calling me. I explained my situation to the clerk who said the earliest telephone appointment was in a month. I expressed my disbelief in the circumstances which I attempted to explain to the clerk but it was clear she was not listening and started to trot out the well known lines regarding the inflexible GP appointment process. She attempted to stop me speaking but I refused to stop my explanation. I brought the conversation to an end abruptly. The clerk had no ability to listen and there was clearly no professional available who could triage my situation. GPs are not god like entities who require protection by untrained individuals in what can be demanding medical situations. They are normal humans who have chosen a particular career path for any number of reasons and to serve unfortunate members of society. For the GP service, this fact seems to have become lost in the mists of time

  5. Review titled Bad experience

Rated 3 stars out of 5

Called in to see if my husband prescription ready, to be told it was down for signing that day Monday, told the receptionist that he run out of one of the medication and he would need it today( baring in mind prescription went in on the Thursday) was told to ring back later which I did, to be told it wouldn't be signed till the end of surgery and ring back just after 6pm, ring back after 6pm no answer kept on ringing finally get through answering machine, go down to chemist to be told no prescription, if I needed emergency medication would have to ring out of hours, when your husband relies on certain medications this is not acceptable to have to ring round trying to get his tablets, ring Bardot to get medication then have to go and pick prescription up, this is not a duty of care when someone relies on there medication.

  6. Review titled Awful practice

Rated 1 star out of 5

Can't fault the admin/receptionists or nurses here but the drs are terrible, their attitudes towards patients are awful, dismissive and down right rude and they even eye roll you when you try to dicuss important things with them. The locum drs that come to this practice are 100% better and thorough with patients more than the permanent drs here.

Had my first nurse consultation today which is a requirement of becoming a new patient with the practice. Very helpful and assisted in booking a follow up appointment with one of the doctors the same week. Very grateful to be at this practice after lots of issues at my last one

Great nurse appointment. Friendly atmosphere. Really felt I was being looked after. She gave me valued help on a medical matter which was not scheduled for the appointment.

  9. Review titled shocking !!

Rated 1 star out of 5

Used to be a good practice with friendly staff. Covid hit and yes things changed but the service they offer is just dreadful , no privacy at all at reception, some not all of the reception staff are so damn rude and have no interest at all. And trying to get an appointment is like trying to get blood from a stone. Fill in the form online they say, wait for a call back within 2 days, 5 days later no call so ring and query to be told a gp called and left a voice message, on what a toy phone ?? as nobody called my phone, and yet i have to fill in another form for the same thing, absolute joke. Can't understand why the receptionist just can't book an appointment or a telephone call when things are now slowly going back to normal....the service is just awful , no wonder people are turning up at A+E.
