I was signposted to this service by the mental health first contact at my GP practice. I self referred and was quickly contacted and offered an appointment the same week! This is where the good service ends. I had my telephone assessment, talked for an hour about my issues and how they affect me. I have had depression and anxiety since 2012. On medication. Having a tough time lately. How I have suicidal thoughts, intrusive thoughts of self harm, no one I can talk to and nothing that I can name that would stop me. I was told the well-being practitioner who undertook my assessment would discuss my case with their supervisor and call me early the next week with a plan. I finally get a call on the Friday of the week after, a voicemail and an emailed letter saying I was discharged by the service. He called me again on the Monday to discuss the letter and ask my thoughts. I told him it was inappropriate and invalidating. He told me that the service is really only for people with anxiety and mood disorders. He told me to feel free to re-refer myself if my goals change. I wouldn’t recommend this service to anyone with mental health issues.
