I would like to Thank all staff in regarding of my care. The nurse and anastetic nurse were amazing and very supportive. The surgeon with his team absolutley outstanding. Big Thank you!

I have recently had a Total Hip Replacement on the NHS at Oaklands and my Orthopedic Surgeon and Team looked after me extremely well from entry right up until my discharge, I spent 4 days in the hospital and I can honestly say that it was a very pleasant stay and the Nursing team and all involved in my care could not do enough for me which made it a much easier start to my ongoing recovery at home, the cleanliness of my room was immaculate along with the rest of the hospital this was down to the hardwork of the housekeeping team who all were very pleasant whom I encountered and I would like to thank all the staff that was involved in my care especially my Surgeon for helping me on the road to being pain free again and looking forward to my future , I would highly recommend this hospital as during my stay the staff seemed dedicated to their work and this was displayed with a smile each time they entered my room to answer any call button request I made, I had a very comfortable stay, once again a huge thanks you are a credit to this hospital .

My consultant was extremely professional and caring. She kept me fully informed every step of the way, and visited me three times during my two night stay to enquire how I was feeling. I felt very safe and confident whilst under her care.

I had an appointment today at the ENT department. Despite dealing with breathing issues for four years, my concerns were dismissed without a thorough investigation. The doctor's contradictory statements about my septum being straight and then bent added to the confusion. I've been on four different steroid sprays without a clear understanding of my symptoms. The explanation provided was not only vague but delivered with a condescending tone. Commuting 50 minutes and spending money on transport only to leave with unanswered questions and disappointment was disheartening.

I am a very nervous person have a needle phobia but I would like to thank the Consultant and his team, from the minute I arrived everyone was so kind, they explained everything that what going to happen, when they took me down for the op they was all so attentive they made me feel a lot calmer. Thankyou everyone that helped me on that day I Cannot thankyou all enough.

The surgeon spent an entire 8 minutes explaining what I already new; with what I can only describe as a 'perfunctory' attitude, before making it clear the consult was over. I can only conclude that as I was a NHS referral, the consult would have been different if I had been a private paying patient. Not a good experience.

If you are referred to this hospital I would strongly advise you to request somewhere else! I was originally referred November 2021, I was sent for an ultrasound which they appear to have lost the results for, I was then sent for another for which I was told I would have to wait 5 months for a follow up appointment with the consultant to get the results! As I was already booked in for an operation with the consultant, I decided to just ask him the results in my consultation on the day. That appointment was cancelled twice, when I finally had it he hadn't even looked at the scan results! Nobody came to see me after the operation I was just discharged by a nurse. When I read the paperwork on leaving the hospital I discovered they had found polyps but I hadn't been made aware there was simply a comment in the procedures section with advised they'd carried out biopsy of polyp(s) no idea if they found one or twenty. My three month follow up appointment has been cancelled and when my gp has chased the biopsy results she has been told they don't have them. This is extremely concerning! It is now November 2022 and I still have no answers a year on. Best avoid if you can!!

Three times I have been referred to this place by my gp for different reasons.but today was the straw that broke the camels back.i have sleep apnea and have just had a stent put in July.but after messing around trying to get the tests they wanted and two pre ops and a face to face meeting with the consultant.one was even the week before.a phone call to tell me I was being admitted today.the nurses I seen were very polite and tried to help but even after seeing the consultant and getting marked up after waiting hours after my appointment I was told by the annestist that I carnt have it done I am high risk and I need to go back to the trust.they had my records for over a year.and bang right back to the beginning I was even on the ward I was so shocked they have wasted my time with them if they couldn't even help.i will never use them again...so I am back at step 1 again with 3 hernias on the waiting game....the ward manager and the sister was great and I think was abit shocked when I was leaving.i wonder to the just take referrals to keep getting the nhs side of people...

Hospital lost my paperwork at one point , then a week before surgery due date had it cancelled without proper explanation over the phone and was passed on to another hospital to start all over again , really feel let down by Oaklands Hospital .
