  1. Review titled Faultless

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I cannot speak higher of the treatment I was given during my recent stay at this hospital. I was quite nervous about general anesthetic but was made to feel easier as it was all explained to me. The surgeon was very kind and I have had no problem with healing following all the advice given. The staff are very professional and also friendly and understanding about patient worries. Obviously no-one wants to be in hospital but my experience was faultless. Thankyou all who looked after me.

  2. Review titled Amazing healthcare provider

Rated 5 stars out of 5

Although I was referred here on the NHS, the care and treatment I have received have been exemplary. All the staff are lovely and the clinical team are extremely attentive. An excellent example of how healthcare can be provided.

  3. Review titled traumatic experience

Rated 2 stars out of 5

After ten years from my right knee replacement I finally received the go-ahead for my left knee replacement Ramsey Health Care was schedule to do it on the 23rd November. I attended the pre-op examination on 24th November and had blood, urine tests and had to go back several times due to UTI I had a course of antibiotics and return to the hospital 4 times in the following 4 weeks I had to have an interview with the Anaesthetic Doctor who agreed that an epidural procedure was to be preferred. I followed all the rules such as the strict dietary requirements they requested. I attended at 12 noon and showed to my room. Where I meet the nurse, Surgeon and anaesthetist who was not the person I had seen previously and was told I would be 1st due to my medical health. In the theatre suite I was again greeted by the surgeon, anaesthetist and 2 others people who I presume would be the future doctors. The anaesthetist proceeded to do the Epidural, after at least eight times (I still have the puncture marks and bruising) he admitted he hadn't got the right size needle and that they had different sized needle in Colchester hospital and then declared the op would be classed as a cancellation and I would have to be sent home. After this heartbreaking news I was taken back to my room only to be greeted by a man with a can of paint who had come to touch up the paint work in my room. The nurse came back in the room and said that she would get me something to eat and said she was sorry and I asked if I could wait for someone to come for me and she agreed as the room was booked for me for at least 2 nights. Not one medical person came to check if I was okay and to tell me what was now going to happen, to say I was devastated is a understatement. My son arrived about 4.45pm at least 2 to 3 hours later and I asked if I should tell someone he had arrived the desk staff said no one needed to know. All the NHS tests and home planning that had been put in place were all for nothing. There was no care of the patients needs at the Oaks and I hope you will make sure this doesn't happen to any other patient. This is a week later and I haven’t heard from anyone

  4. Review titled Very poor.

Rated 1 star out of 5

My dad was booked in for a cataract to be removed at Woodland Hospital, Kettering. They removed his cataract but didn't have the correct size lens to fit his eye, leaving an elderly man with very little vision and placing him in considerable distress and vulnerability. Over a week later and they still haven't got the correct lens, and don't know when one will be available. They then blamed the patient for the failed operation saying it was his fault they couldn't fit the new lens because he was "moving his head too much". Poor excuses to try to mask their incompetence for ordering the wrong size lens for his eye. Very poor indeed

Cannot fault my care at the Fitzwilliam the care quality was outstanding nothing was to much trouble in all departments.Even they are understaffed it didn’t reflect on any of my care and needs. Would definitely recommend highly. Thank you.

  6. Review titled Error after error

Rated 1 star out of 5

I first came to this hospital October 2022. Since then, quite a few errors have happened which have caused myself and my partner stress and anxiety. These are as follows: 1. Had a call a few weeks after my first appt asking me to go to a&e urgently as my potassium level was dangerously high. I called my partner home from work to ask him to hospital. Partner returned home but then recd another call to say if I felt OK, I could do a tepeat bloodiest that evening at Beacon Park. Then received another call 5 minutes after to ask if I could do the test the following mornibg instead at Rowley Hospital. This causes much confusion and upset to us. It was then explained to me at the repeat test that the initial result was a false reading. 2. Had follow up appt Jan this year and they requested a repeat sample. I did this and the results were lost. To compensate, consultant requested appt for me early Feb as I'd already waited 2 months to see him. I received a letter saying appt made for 27th Feb. When I called to query this I was told there was no clinic on the date consultant requested early Feb as conssultant on leave. 3. I did another repeat test and called 2 weeks before my appt late Feb to check they had results as I didn't want them getting lost again. I was told by someone in outpatients the results were there. When I spoke to consultant late Feb I was told the sample was rejected and consultant himself told me he was in clinic on 6th Feb and not on leave. Now I have to do yet another sample. I have no faith in th8s provider and thinking of discharging myself because I cannot face the constant errors. It has also caused upset in my relationship because I don't drive and have to rely on my partner to collect/return the samples to the hospital. Otherwise its a 4 hour round trip by public transport from where I live

  7. Review titled Bizarre

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Miss O’Neill (do not remove) - Posted on 29 May 2022

Please accept my review- the reason I am leaving this is because my father has Alzheimer’s. He was unhappy and he should have a voice but he is unable to use this service himself. Previously removed 10.30am 29th May 2022. Arrived- no issues (lady on reception a little bizarre) Consultation- very short to the point (didn’t complete consent) Nurses station- quiet, admin heavy. I asked questions regarding my father and help at home after the operation but not able to assist me with information about community nurse details. I offered to pay privately for care after the operation as I have a busy job but still not able to assist me. She’s asked for consent form but we explained this hasn’t been signed- she wrote in capital letters on the form- seemed annoyed. Bloods- ok Reception check out- receptionist was dismissive, was not accommodating to the needs of the patient(my father), she interrupted our conversation (not just an interruption, she listened to what we said and contradicted us) which leads my father to be confused. It was a personal conversation about booking an appointment with his GP. Started talking about because we were NHS they have funding every 18 weeks, didn’t understand what she was talking about. Not clear, very confusing. I have private health cover myself, however I have never attended this hospital and I never will. The staff in NHS hospitals are so much nicer and welcoming, this private hospital does not seem like a friendly place.
