After recent hip replacement surgery I was in extreme pain the first night, was told rather dismissively that I could have asked for more pain relief. I would have expected to be checked on in the night. No one told me that my husband and daughter had phoned. My husband twice was told he would be put through shortly, he waited 1 hour and 3/4 hr respectively before being cut off. No one told me that my lower leg would probably swell up when I was at home. This resulted in the support stocking digging into my leg and causing a large area of black bruising. Two different members of staff told me on different occasions that they would be back in a few minutes, neither of them returned and one apparently had gone off shift. Night time was generally quiet except at 3am one night there was a lot of 'clattering and banging doors for about 15 minutes. I was very disappointed with the attitude of some of the staff, the food that I thought was poor and the dilapidated state of the rooms and ward especially compared to a different private hospital I attended in the past.
