This clinic made the worst time of my life just that little bit more bearable. I had to undergo a late term surgical abortion for medical reasons and I was absolutely terrified. My treatment was spread over two days and from the first second of the first day, all of the staff were amazing. I was so nervous my heart rate was sky high - the nurses were brilliant at calming me down. Every single member of staff were just amazing. So caring, friendly and non-judgmental. Even the surgeon and the anaesthesiologist took their time to relax me and took the time to get to know me. Even down to the assistants, just all so lovely and amazing. My husband was allowed to be in the room with me at all time right up to me being put under, which was important to me. And the aftercare once I had come to was second to none. The nurses never left my side until i was discharged and made sure I had everything I needed, from drinks and snacks down to maternity products. Thank you for taking such good care of me in what was just an awful time for myself and my husband. This clinic and its staff are an asset to our NHS.

  2. Review titled Fantastic practice!

Rated 5 stars out of 5

BPAS Richmond were amazing! From the minute you walk in the receptionist are so lovely and kind. The nurses taking consultations were supportive and took their time to ensure all your questions and needs were met. The Anesthesiologists and Doctor made sure you were ready, comfortable & okay at all times. I couldn’t fault Richmond in any shape of form. They were so organised & friendly which is really important during these tough times. However, if you are deciding to have a termination I would recommended the surgery rather than the home procedure as the home procedure is longer, more painful and more emotionally challenging in my opinion.

  3. Review titled Unprofessional individual Staff

Rated 3 stars out of 5

I visited Richmond “Bpas” with my husband I received treatment at “Bpas” in Reading but I wasn’t feeling well after a month. After calling “Bpas aftercare” I have been advised to go to Richmond bpas clinic for further investigation because I was still in unbearable pain after one month. As I have no family here we have to take our 3 years old daughter. All staff doctors at Richmond Bpas were very good but the lady nurse who sat with me and started treatment and information was so unprofessional and rude towards me saying to me that I shouldn’t come here but to go A&e. My first language is not English but I can understand English completely and I am a limited speaker. My husband couldn’t stay with me because he was looking after our daughter. I was in pain and emotionally down but the way she treated me was really heartbreaking. I bursted into tears in the waiting room. In the end lady nurse found in the scan that I needed a procedure or treatment but she kept saying to me I should had to go to A&E and all the time she had been responding to me in a very bad manner. I am hoping no one can get such kind of care, behaviour from the staff in future. I am thankful to the other staff members and doctors who look after me at Richmond.

  4. Review titled Amazingly caring and compassionate

My daughter found she was very far gone on a Friday. The clinic fitted her in as an emergency on the Tuesday and she was all sorted out by Wednesday. We could not fault the service. All staff are so caring, compassionate, dedicated and have the utmost professionalism. They all made what was a nerve wracking time so much easier to bear. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts, you are so appreciated.

  6. Review titled Great Practice

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I must say, out of every experience I have had with GP’s, hospitals and clinics I have never been treated with so much care. Firstly my mental health was a shambles, which I think was quiet visible. This was their first priority! Secondly every single member of the team were compassionate. I have never experienced this in one place before. Thirdly, during my procedure you could see I was very anxious before the general anaesthesia, the Surgeon and the Anaesthetists wasted no time, introduced themselves to me while getting me prepared. They kept me in conversation, reassured me and the Anaesthetists should be a stand up comedian, he was fantastic. Lastly once taken into the official room I was lying down with people around me feeling so scared and out of nowhere another midwife comes to hold my hand and then I was out like a light with the anaesthetic. Once I was awake I was taken complete care of. This was one of the hardest decisions I have ever had to make but the staff made it so much easier for me. I am extremely grateful.

  7. Review titled Wonderful staff

Rated 5 stars out of 5

Thank you to all the staff. Today was such a sad and stressful time for us, with added medical issues I was so scared but the staff made it such a comfortable and calm experience. The anaesthetist was so so nice when I was upset and worrying she held my hand and made sure I was ok. All day every nurse and dr were wonderful and I cannot fault them at all. Thank you for taking care of me at a time I needed care and compassion. The tea and biscuits were very welcome after feeling so hungry all morning

  8. Review titled Place of Heroes

Rated 5 stars out of 5

During this time I was feeling every feeling possible pain, guilt, heart break and terrified. The people at this practice made a horrible experience as warm and as lovely as possible. From the nurses who held my hand and gave me strength and light when I needed it. Every single person there to the lovely man handing out ice lollies after the treatment on such a hot day to the woman who kept checking on me and the lovely nurse I had my final medical check with, thank you. I can’t stress enough how much I want to forget what happened but remember how beautiful and caring people can be. I felt safe and looked after from people who genuinely care about others. Thank you.

  9. Review titled Made a horrible experience manageable

Rated 5 stars out of 5

After several tests we found out at 15 weeks our baby had Trisomy 13. I was then told to contact BPAS as I felt giving birth would be too traumatic. Initially, I was incredibly nervous about the whole thing and having to have surgery. However, they really did make a horrible experience in my life manageable and treated me with such care and compassion. The whole process was extremely organised, efficient and professional. Whilst I hope I never have to go through this again, I can't thank them enough for how they treated me.

  10. Review titled Amazing treatment

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Allison - Posted on 01 June 2022

I arrived at the clinic for my appointment at 9.20am, I was pretty much called straight away by a midwife to go over my details and check my blood pressure ect. I am a Type 1 Diabetic and my blood sugars were low from not eating since the night before due to being put under general at my appointment. When the midwife saw my blood sugars were low she went straight to talk to the people doing the operation. After speaking with them they asked if I could be taken straight up and I would be done straight away. I was given the tablets that need to dissolve under my tongue. I was then greeted by another lady who took my upstairs asked a few more questions and explained what was going to happen, I was asked to change into a gown and some socks. I was given a lockers for my belonging. I was then taken into a different room where I was greeted by two surgeons who explained what was going to happen and put a canular into my hand. It was all happening very fast due to my blood sugars but I was reassured the whole time and they spoke through everything that was happening. I was then wheeled into another room, where there were lots of people, the surgeon explained to the who I was, how far gone I was ect. Two ladies came over to where my head was laying and held my arms in a comforting way, I was then given an oxygen mask and told the medication to make to sleep would be going in now. I was very comfortable and felt even more comfortable with the ladies next to my head giving me reassuring squeezes. The next thing I was waking up in recovery with a lovely lady there, she was checking my blood pleasure and other things. She was very reassuring and kept asking if I was ok. She explained that everything went as planned and explained what would happen next. After a while she asked if I was comfortable to stand up and walk to a room that was 4 odd meters away where I was greeted by another two ladies who sat me down, introduced themselves and checked me oven again. They they offered me tea, coffee, juice, biscuits and muffins. My legs were shaking due to the medication wearing off the lady offered to get me another blanket. I was sat in recovery for 20 mins - and checked 2-3 times. The ladies were always there should you need them. I was then asked to go to the toilet to check my bleeding and then lead to a room to get changed. I was then asked to go to another room where I was told to waiting for the Dr to discharged me, I was able to help myself to tea, coffee and biscuits. I was then discharged. Overall a situation that I was dread was made easier by the wonderful staff at this clinic. Thank you so much for all the caring and attention you took looking after me. You all make this experience so much easier. xxx
