  1. Review titled Terrible service, very helpful and uncaring clinician

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 05 March 2024

I waited 30 minutes for a call back after being referred from 111, then after explaining that i was in severe pain with symptoms of an abscess I was told I should just go to the pharmacy to get some cream. The clinician didn’t take any time to find out about my symptoms, just told me to go to the pharmacy after about 1 minute of speaking to me so I felt like I was being very fobbed off. I became very upset and stated I’ve had an abscess in the past which required emergency surgery and was a hard long recovery so wanted to avoid this as I now have a 2 year old son so can’t be laid up in bed for weeks recovering. The lady then said she was going to cut the call and would call me back when I’d “calmed down”. I ended up going to DVH A&E who were amazing and gave me the treatment I needed very promptly. I won’t bother using the medocc service again as it was an awful experience.

  2. Review titled Terrible Service

Rated 1 star out of 5

Made it through emergency child care unit at 13:30 with my 1 year old child, was triaged and referred to the MedOCC dept, checked in at MedOCC at 14:00, reception said we needed to wait with no indication of a waiting time. 2 hours had passed the small waiting room was now filled with children and parents some that had been waiting at least 4 hours longer than us and we’re still waiting, some parents left, when I approached the receptionist to ask how long it was going to take, I received a disinterested and rude response and basically told me to keep quiet and wait or leave. There is no strategy or organization, the staff have no clue what it’s going on at all and when questioned about availability of Dr’s and lead times, the only answer one gets is “I don’t know, you’ll have to wait your turn and see how long it takes”.. I ended up waiting 8 hours in MedOCC for my one year old son to be seen by a Dr. 8 hours trying to keep a sick 1 year old entertained and fed / hydrated with absolutely no facilities in a stuffy box room crammed with 10 other sick children in the same predicament.. There must be a better way to organize this clinic, there is no system I place to manage patients, this seems archaic, no booking or ticketing systems or in time communications, the waiting room was also filthy dirty, the managers should be ashamed.

  3. Review titled Very professional treatment

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Clifford Baugh - Posted on 31 August 2023

As its impossible to get a gp appointment and experiencing chest pains I visited meddoc and can not praise enough the treatment I received. A massive thank you to all the nurses and radiographer I met. The doctor was very thorough and explained everything at all stages. I know you have to wait but I witnessed staff working under pressure all the time. Thank you again

  4. Review titled Waiting Times Completely Unacceptable

Rated 1 star out of 5

Went to Medocc Gillingham on 16 June with a DVT referral letter from my GP. Was booked in at A&E by 11.45 and told to go to Medocc Waiting time when I arrived was 1 & 1/2 hours. This kept increasing throughout the day and I ended up leaving, completely stressed just before 7pm without being seen by a doctor. Waiting time by then was 6-7 hours, which was a complete nonsense as I had been there 7 hours and there were other people waiting who were there before me. The receptionists were completely dispassionate & basically blamed my doctor for not booking me an appointment. No apology for the 7 hours I had wasted at the hospital. Still don't know if I definitely have a DVT, in a lot of pain and dreading going back to Medocc for what will probably be another very unpleasant experience. I have been very lucky so far and this is my first experience of using an NHS hospital & what an awful, stressful, sole destroying experience. Must do better Meddoc & if the receptionists can't be pleasant, suggest they are in the wrong job.

  5. Review titled Uninterested doctor

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 20 June 2023

After waiting nearly 5 hours the waiting time was increased again for the 3rd time my child who is a young adult walked out once the time went up to over 6 hours. I rang 111 and i explained the situation to them , they was really helpful and made a referal to medocc for a doctor to call back . When the doctor rang they was totally uninterested and unhelpful , all we got was theres nothing we can do , go to your gp and a spray that probably won't help . We are in the process of registering them at our local gp practice , the practice that they are registered to we cannot get to . The doctor didnt even give us a chance to tell them about the new symptoms that had developed . When asked what chemist we would like the prescription to go we got told no i want the name of the chemist , it took 3 times of repeating ourselves tgat the doctor finally realised that was the name of the chemists and not the road . My child needs help yet cannot get it as the doctor was completely uninterested .

  6. Review titled still waiting!!!

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Jim Clifford - Posted on 12 March 2023

i rang 111 yesterday which was more painful than my infection. after going through all my problems and symptoms with the girl on the other end of phone who doesn’t have any medical training what so ever, she said as she’s not medically trained she will refer me to medocc and they will ring me within 1 hour as it sounds serious. 8 hours later they ring me and ask if i still need treatment, almost like my infection has cleared up over night somehow. so i said yes i’m worse than i was yesterday so they said medocc will ring at 8am to give me a time to come in. well i’m still waiting for there phone call today and feeling a lot worse. it wouldn’t be so bad if wasn’t lied to every time. like if they said we are busy, we will ring u in 8 hours then yea i can understand. but to just out an out lie over the phone and say 1 hour so i’m sat here waiting like a plonker- they definatly take the wee wee.

  7. Review titled Thank you Medoc

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 16 March 2023

Called 111 as my vision and balance were causing me worry..called 111 at 2am and promised a call back with the hour....waited,waited and waited then decided to visit Medoc at Medway Hospital at 4am as no call back !!!! The traiage nurse was fantastic and and explained fully what was causing the issue after a full check. I was seen by the Medoc doctor quickly and after a consultation calmed my worries, prescri ing some medication for the issue. Thank you Medooc but 111 did not call me back until 9am some 7 hours later...not impressed.

I had concerns regarding my wife’s new medication. The doctor was able to discuss, explain, advise and make a decision regarding adjustments.

Called 111 on a Sunday morning which was arduous in itself. Eventually told would get a call from MedOCC sometime later. 24hours later, absolutely nothing. Very poor. Everyone just gives the excuse 'we are busy'...
