  2. Review titled kind efficient calm reassuring service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

When attending for x ray it was found my g,p practice had indicated the wrong area of my body for x ray. Rather than sending me away to sort it out with my practice, members of staff at st catherines dealt with it themselves. This involved a receptionist who spent a long time trying to get through on the phone, and also the staff from the radiology room itself, (the female member who initiated the calls and the follow through, and kept me informed about what was happening, and the male member who was kind enough to enquire if I had had any lunch) as I had been waiting a couple of hours, They were all so kind in alleviating my distress, and sorting out the authorisation to change the referral, so I didn't have to start the whole process all over again. I chose st catherines for my x ray, as all my experiences there have always been calm and reassuring, and processes always dealt with so smoothly. It.s always a shining example of how good our health services can actually be. Thank you so much to everyone involved

  3. Review titled No First Aid Kit

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Katherine Russell - Posted on 25 January 2023

I visited for my little boy's ophthalmology appointment on 14th December. Whilst the specialist that saw us was brilliant, after we left the appointment my son slipped over in the carpark (it was a snowy / icy day) and obtained a very bad injury just above his eye. I immediately went back into the hospital and asked at the security desk for an ice pack, only to be told to go back to the Children's department that we'd just come from to ask there. We rushed up there, but after the receptionist checked we were told there was no first aid kit available and that we'd need to go to A&E or a walk-in. Obviously this was extremely frustrating and ironic given that we were in a hospital, as my experience since having children is usually when out and about in public places (e.g. shops), there's always first aid kits and ice packs available in case of such emergencies. The result was that I ended up rushing my little boy home to treat his injury with an ice pack - however he was left with a very bad swelling and black eye which lasted several weeks, which I feel could have been avoided or reduced if the hospital staff had done more (or anything) to help. I also feel it's a health and safety risk to not have a basic first aid kit available in case of such random accidents in or around the building.
