Phoned for advice due to falling asleep and having a very low blood oxygen level. Receptionist told me to go to a hospital emergency department or phone an ambulance. Isn't this urgent advice required? Not to wait to the following morning's 0800 phone appointments. Hospitals are not an option now, ambulances just as bad. So I refused, thanked her and ended my call. Within 30 minutes my doctor phoned me, being very concerned about my phone call. After a thorough discussion I was issued an urgent prescription for Steroids. Excellent service and concern, with a really good outcome thankfully! A follow up also organised. Plus a Full Bloods investigation organised. Just what Doctors Surgeries are for, to reduce unnecessary ambulance call outs, or attending Hospital Emergency departments. I couldn't have wished for better! Although - having said the above - the receptionist was not helpful - but possibly realised her error - and contacted a colleague or my doctor To be noted! This receptionist's lacking of positive help, is not the normal response that I've had from her colleagues at this Practice! A great practice! great staff!
