    Since the regulations have changed 2 years ago during the Covid epidemic it has been impossible to see a GP from the practice. If you can't get through to the practice when they open at 8 o'clock in the morning, you are told there are no appointments left, and even when you do, they are only telephone consultations with a nurse. I find it incredulous that a GP practice should be sending a patient to the Accidents and Emergencies department over anything and everything, as there is no longer the possibility of seeing a doctor face-to-face. This is supposed to be a "care in the community" surgery, or what was once termed "family doctor". There is no wonder our A&E departments are buckling under the strain. I work for the NHS myself and find this behaviour appalling. You are nearly always only dealing with a receptionist, discussing medical conditions, when it is my right as a tax payer to be able to access medical care.

    After an extended stay in hospital last year I was discharged into the care of the team at Lance Lane six months ago. They have all been excellent in helping me navigate the GP system and to find my way through blood tests (and for what and why they are needed), on-line prescriptions, nurse appointments etc. I now feel confident in what I need to do, how to do it and why. Yes, the practice can be very busy at times - understandably so - but in my experience if you try to work with the team rather than against them they will reciprocate effectively and efficiently to the benefit of both sides of the equation.
